My View of Life on the Dock

Tonno Gloucester plans to reopen next Wednesday June 24 for indoor and patio dining as part of Phase 2.2 in the COVID plan. I am sure owners Chuck Newman and his sister Joanna Newman are saying “Finally!” to themselves now that their new shop at 184 Washington Street, Crystal Cottage Candies, has opened. They had planned to be open for Valentine’s Day but circumstances, including coronavirus stalled the debut until this week. They are billing themselves as Crystal Cottage Candies & More. In addition to candies, donuts, muffins and cakes; the “More” includes things like turkey legs, chicken wings, and a ham/potato dinner they plan to feature tonight. They are expecting to include florist services as well as a produce market, so keep your eye on that! They can be found on Facebook for updates etc.

Listen, even if you are a brutally narcissistic jerk of a kid. In that case get your pops some nice lobster to avoid the inevitable guilt you’d feel for blowing off Father’s Day. Do it selfishly for yourself in that case to avoid feeling like an ass. Just don’t be the worst kid ever and blow it off. (That’s your feel good Father’s Day speech).
Get a pile of culls for $4.50 per lb. That’s a GREAT DEAL, and a deal we’ve put out to inspire people to support our local fishermen and EAT MORE DELICIOUS LOBSTER!

I think the low tide with the rocks look like Kristoff’s family from Frozen

Vera Lynn, known as the sweetheart of the British armed forces, has died at age 103. Perhaps best known for We’ll Meet Again (1939), Vera ‘s music inspired not only the armed forces during WWII, but all those who face great challenges and uncertain futures. Her music is as timely now as it was during the Nazi’s war on Europe. As we face a viral pandemic, a suddenly unstable economy and a great civic awakening, Vera’s voice, her constructive sentimentality and her passion can help us all through this difficult time.
Listen to this and tell me if it doesn’t bring a tear to your eyes and hope to your heart.

I was delighted to see Fireflies thrift and consignment shop at 100 Main Open this week as I strolled downtown. We have new babies coming into our lives and I’ve been waiting on tenterhooks to get back in there! Mary nicely assisted me with my purchase and a Stacey agreed to let me share some pictures. I got a snowsuit on clearance and a sparkling onesie for less than $20. All protocols in place without feeling overwhelming. Win win.
The Studio announced on its Facebook page that they will be reopening Friday June 19 at 4 PM with HALF OFF FOOD all week. Limited seating so reservations highly recommended. 978-879-4896. Look out Rocky Neck, here we come!
They are also looking for help front of house and back of house. Check out the Facebook link for application information.
