OUR BEAUTIFUL GLOUCESTER HARBOR CITY SKYLINE SUNSET IN THE STORM’S AFTERMATH

The storm swirled in late yesterday afternoon. I was on the way home from filming at Good Harbor Beach and stopped at Pirate’s Lane to watch it sweep across the Harbor. Kayaks were hurling through the air, boats racing pell mell to shore, great gusts whistling, bells clanging, and it was over before it began! The after storm glow and cloud formations were exquisite.

Happy Summer Storm Drama! (As long as everyone is safely on shore)

goodlinens on Main Street any day now!

goodlinens is ready enough for its soft launch opening! More finishing and architectural details will continue through the summer and into the fall. Featured artisan panels and more inventory and stock will be added. Yet you just might have the chance to step inside if not today then any day soon! Jo Anne is a blur of activity.

Call ahead for the best subs of summer. Gloucester beaches sandwich directory.

Hungry? Pack light. You’ll pass great sandwich shops, locally owned and operated, en route to Gloucester’s magnificent beaches. Jeff’s Variety can set you up for a good lunch to go wherever you’re headed including Good Harbor Beach, Long Beach, or the back shore. Jeff says that there are many repeat customers that come back each and every season–for years–on their way to Good Harbor Beach. IF you have a big group, you can order trays with finger sandwiches. Sandwich platters featuring Virgilio’s rolls need at least two days notice to prepare. They’re open Sundays. What else? “Yes!” the answer to my question if they have plenty of call ahead requests from cars caught in traffic. Passengers calling only, please!

Scroll down the post for a one-stop, sub-shopping Gloucester directory with phone numbers and links. I could add in our favorite choices from each place.

Lovin’ some Loons

Yesterday cousin Wendy and I got up at 3:30 am to drive out to Quabbin Reservoir in Belchertown, MA out near Amherst.   With our camera’s in hand we were blessed with the company of this Loon family who were happy just to hang out, fish and be adorable!  I’ve never seen a Loon this close and never realized how large they were.  This particular family had 2 babies who were 4-5 weeks old and starting to learn how to fish for themselves. (FYI these were taken with a 600 mm lens so that we could stay a respectable distance from the family.  Enjoy nature, but be respectful!)  Have a Sunday Funday!

Evening in White Album-

“Hi Joey,

Long time since I’ve offered  photos, but here are some from last Friday’s “Evening in White.” Always a good time not to mention a worthy charity.  Most of these photos were taken by my friend, Pamela Nicholson with the gracious permission of all those pictured.”
