Meredith Glaser Plum Cove Grind thanks her customers and best wishes for The Cove Cafe

The cozy business at 1064 Washington Street in the heart of Lanesville keeps pumping with a new name and owner, Alisha Clayton. Plum Cove Grind is now The Cove Cafe.

Mary is there early baking all the morning goodies.

Grab a coffee and stay an extra moment to meet with Ward 4 City Councilor, Val Gilman, most every Friday morning. Chief McCarthy might be there as well.

And for those wondering about former Plum Cove Grind owner, Meredith Glaser, she writes about her next chapter:

“All is very ok! Plum Cove Grind was a “life style” business. It allowed me to stay close and raise my kids and provide a nice business for the community and beyond( we had a lot of people from all over the world). Thanks to so many great customers.

After 11 years in business, my kids are all grown up so I had decided to look for a buyer.

The buyers were local people (Yay!), and I think they will do well. I’m thinking they will keep the great coffee and lattes and offering of yummy goods. So stay in touch, I’m certain it will be exciting to see what they do.

Say hi to Joey for me.”- Meredith Glaser

Call ahead for the best subs of summer. Gloucester beaches sandwich directory.

20160724_100817-001

Hungry? Pack light. You’ll pass great sandwich shops, locally owned and operated, en route to Gloucester’s magnificent beaches. Jeff’s Variety can set you up for a good lunch to go wherever you’re headed including Good Harbor Beach, Long Beach, or the back shore. Jeff says that there are many repeat customers that come back each and every season–for years–on their way to Good Harbor Beach. IF you have a big group, you can order trays with finger sandwiches. Sandwich platters featuring Virgilio’s rolls need at least two days notice to prepare. They’re open Sundays. What else? “Yes!” the answer to my question if they have plenty of call ahead requests from cars caught in traffic. Passengers calling only, please!

Scroll down the post for a one-stop, sub-shopping Gloucester directory with phone numbers and links. I could add in our favorite choices from each place.

GOOD MORNING GLORIES BROUGHT TO YOU BY PLUM COVE GRIND!

Driving through Lanesville on my home from filming and the beautiful blue of ‘Flying Saucers’ caught my eye. I couldn’t resist taking a photo and circled back. Meredith Glaser, Plum Cove Grind proprietor, was just opening for the day and I couldn’t resist either her tempting blueberry oat scones. They were fantastic, chock full of blueberries and with a flaky texture, not at all glompy as is often the case with scones. Everything else on display looked very homemade and irresistibly delicious, too. I’ll definitely be back to sample more of Meredith’s yummy pastries.

Chickity Check It! Plum Cove Grind’s Delicious Sandwiches

The sandwich I got was the second one down on the right.  It was freaking fantastic and my mouth is drooling right now just thinking about it as I type.

Plum Cove Grind

I stopped by “the Grind” last weekend while in Lanesville.  What a find this little joint is!

Plum Cove Grind is to Lanesville what Last Stop Variety is to East Gloucester.  I had one of the most delicious sandwiches I’ve ever eaten from here.  It was a tuna sandwich but it also had (I think) candied walnuts and cranberries)  not sure what else was in the sandwich but it was excellent!  I mean EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT!

You just gotta try it.  It’s worth the ride.
