Gallery hours, Daily, 10:00-6:00 PM
Starting June 27th, 2015, Gallery 53 will be hosting a Summer Demo Series. This is a great opportunity to be able to see some of the “behind the scenes” workings of different artists in their chosen mediums. The demos are free and open to all interested in learning about new techniques and art forms.
The first of our Summer Demo Series are two jewelers working primarily in sterling silver, Deborah Way and Katherine Bagely.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Deborah Way lives in Gloucester and has been working in sterling and gold since she first learned her craft on the “other” Cape in the ’70’s. She particularly enjoys the “play” that metal gives when she forms her designs, and will do some demonstrations of her hammering technique that she employs currently.
Katherine Bagley also lives in Gloucester. She has been fascinated with metal work after being introduced to it through a pilot program in her high school many years ago. She finds much joy in the ways in which metals can take on form and beauty by the many methods of manipulation. She will be weaving and crocheting wire as part of her demonstration.
There will be plenty of opportunity to dialog with the artists so come on by and bring your curiosity.
