Gloucester has tremendous amounts of woodlands that residents enjoy including several City-owned areas in West Gloucester. Essex County Greenbelt recently built a better trail gateway to the Tompson Street Reservation off Concord Street. Similar trail gateways improvements are under consideration for trails on City-owned land in West Gloucester.
Ward 5 Councillor Bill Fonvielle, Charlie Crowley and the rest of the Gloucester Open Space & Recreation Committee invite the public to attend a community forum to discuss plans to improve hiking trail entry trailheads in West Gloucester. The forum will focus on locations on Forest Lane, Laurel Street and Essex Avenue (leading to Fernwood Lake). Plans include adding signs and improving parking.
