This is 16 mm film taken during the summer of 1928 along the coastal waters from Boston to Gloucester. It is about 9 minutes long. I cut and edited the original film and added the 1928 sound track. You will see some interesting scenes from Marblehead and Gloucester.

I watched the whole thing and loved every second of it! So special! Made me think of my dad who could well have been one of those young, jaunty, smiling, and carefree young men so happy to be sailing in that beautiful place. Halcyon days, for sure. What a remarkable and precious window into a long gone past that we should always treasure. Thanks so much for sharing! Delightful!

A wonderful video Kim. Even more wonderful though was my mother’s reaction to it. I looked over at her to see if she recognized the music and she was crying. I asked her what was wrong, and she said “that was mom’s favorite song – she sang it all the time.” So you opened a portal for a visitation of my mom’s mom for her on mother’s day. Thanks – now we are both crying!

A true classic I going to send to mom for here viewing pleasure as I am sure it may bring a smile and tear to her eye not sadness but happiness of the days gone by 🙂 She remembers much of these days as young girl born a few years after this…Thanks Dave 🙂 & Kim 🙂 Classic indeed!
