Hey Capt Joe! Thanks for having me on the show months ago. You mentioned giving you an update on my book. So here goes…I’m having a book release party this Saturday (May 2nd) at The Grove in Manchester, 7 pm. Gloucester MA, April 23, 2015 — The Rocky Neck Art Colony (RNAC) invites New England artists to submit work for the “Printed, Painted, Folded or Torn” a month-long juried exhibition at the Cultural Center Gallery at Rocky Neck, 6 Wonson Street, Gloucester, MA 01930. RNAC seeks work that explores the possibilities and pushes the limits of the use of paper in works of art. All media will be considered provided the use of paper is a primary component.

The juror for this exhibition is Katherine French, former Executive Director at Danforth Art in Framingham, MA, became Director Emerita upon her recent retirement from that institution. Acclaimed for exhibitions exploring historical and contemporary expressionism, French was recipient of an award for curatorial excellence from the New England chapter of the International Association of Art Critics. She was also named Best Curator of Locally Made Art at the Boston Art Awards and subject of profiles in Art New England and the Boston Globe.

Fred can finally chew and eat a modest amount of normal food, sans Thrush. I weigh 148 lbs, probably what I weighed in 6th grade in1962. I’m munching all the time now. This was the “Breakthrough Day.” For the first time in10 days, I can swallow food and water without pain. Just give me fatty foods, please…

GAAC May 8 Program Note

This month at GAAC we have a real treat in store, an astronomical travelogue extraordinaire from GAACster Dwight Lanpher. Dwight and his wife Terry embarked on an astronomy tour from Paris to Greenwich in 2013, and returned with a story — and pictures — of great telescopes, great observatories, great clocks, the unlikely history of the discovery of Neptune and the saga of a carpenter’s lifelong work trying to solve the problem of finding longitude at sea.
Dwight will regale us with tales of key individuals from Sir George Airy — he of the Airy disc — to Urbain Le Verrier, who predicted the orbit and position of Neptune using only mathematics. Come on in for a great time with great friends and lots of goodies, and an amazing and colorful astronomical tale.

The Gloucester Area Astronomy Club meets on the second Friday of the month at the Lanesville Community Center in the Lanesville neighborhood of Gloucester from 8:00 to 9:30.
