REWARD for Missing Dog (Essex MA) and Missing Coat (Cape Ann, MA)

Hi Joey, et al. Not sure if GMG has a ‘lost and found’ post, but it seems it is worth trying, so here goes….

REWARD for Missing Dog (Essex MA) and Missing Coat (Cape Ann, MA)

  • Cynthia’s Dog ‘Opie’ missing since January 6th.    Many are out looking for Cynthia’s dog. She lives in Essex and helps many a stray.
  • Knee-Length Women’s Winter Coat; Black with Faux Fur-lined hood; last seen at the MAC Fitness Center on 12/6.

The coat went missing during the first week of December, and may have been taken home as ‘mistaken identity,’ but without identifiers for the owner…, has not been returned. d

Maybe FOB can Help.  REWARD for both!    Thanks!  Karen Pischke

You Spoke, We listened: Booker T. Jones is coming to the Larcom 2/21

Just before Christmas, we asked people whether we should bring Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Musicians Hall of Fame inductee, Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient & the greatest Hammond B3 master of all time, BOOKER T. JONES, to Beverly’s Larcom Theatre.  Response was overwhelmingly positive, so we’ve done it and tickets are now on sale to the public, but they’re selling fast.  Get your tickets here and don’t miss out on Booker T.’s only New England appearance on this U.S. tour.  You may remember him from Booker T. and the M.G.’s, with hits like “Green Onions,” “Hang ‘Em High,” “Time Is Tight,” and “Melting Pot,”.  While at Stax Records, Booker T. also wrote “Born Under a Bad Sign” with William Bell, which was recorded in 1967 by Albert King and later by Cream and Jimi Hendrix and covered live by many others. Here’s Booker T’s powerful version with his excellent touring band!

And here’s Booker T. with Gary Clarke Jr. and John Mayer live at the 2013 Rock and Roll Induction Ceremony

Sista Felicia  & Family

In addition to the traditional gift items, were a few of my personal favorites: a bottle of Sista Felicia Homemade Limoncello, San Marzano Tomatoes, a freshly baked Cherry Cheesecake and a special gift from  the Mariposa Company!

It’s no secret to friends and family that I have an obsession for all things Mariposa, and love that the companies large product line makes gift giving throughout the year so simple!  The fact is I truly adore the beauty and functionality of the Mariposa Product line. It makes entertaining easy, elegant and  adds a special touch of flavor to anything served on Mariposa! From stemware, to servingware and everything inbetween my tables and home are adorned with Mariposa on a daily basis!  Last night while assembling the gift basket I was disappointed  in my efforts to purchases a “String of Pearls Sticky Note Holder”, for the mayor’s new office.   This handy decorative little note holder is one of the of my most used collection pieces, in the house!  Late last night I decided to  reached out to the Mariposa Company directly after my failed attempts yesterday to purchase  one of my most handy and beautiful Mariposa desktop pieces for my dear friend  and new City Mayor Sefatia. This morning just prior to my scheduled meeting with the Mayor, I learned from my contact at the Mariposa Company, that the “String of Pearls Sticky Note Desktop Holder” is classified as retired collection pieces, but the companies warehouse had one available and had been processed for me to pick up.  Love dealing with the Mariposa folks, as always, they totally came through on short notice. I personally would like to thank Laura Makin and the Mariposa Staff for their assistance this morning, and for the retired “String of Pearls “ collection piece they generously gifted to our City of Gloucester’s New Mayor Sefatia Giambanco  Romeo Theken!

Please know I’m grateful and that the Mayor is Thrilled to have your beautiful Gift on her desk…She Loved it!

Alex Gold Not Too Happy About The Dog Poop Situation At Burnham Field

Wanna go for a walk in Burnham Field, this is what you get (see poop shoe pic below). I want to thank all the lazy inconsiderate people who let their dogs take dumps all along the new paths and don’t bother picking it up.  The walkways are literally littered with dog feces. This is a disgrace and makes one wonder if people don’t respect the places where they live do they respect anything.
Upset resident,
Alex

Candlemas Celebration at St. Johns Episcopal Church

Children’s Candlemas Celebration at St. John’s
Interested in what’s happening in the children and youth program at St. John’s?
St. John’s Episcopal Church school will be offering workshops related to Candlemas.  For two Sundays, (February 1st and February 8th) all children are invited to take part in this celebration by learning how to make beeswax candles and participate in the feast of the Presentation of the Lord at the Temple (40 days after his birth). The first Sunday (10:15 – 11:15am), participants will learn the story of Simeon and Anna (Luke 2:22 – 40) as they make their candles. The following Sunday (10:15 – 11:15am), children will complete their candles; learn the song of Simeon and help lead the Procession of Candlemas with their lighted candles, as part of the church service.  The procession will end with the children arriving in the church, joining their parents. This is a two-session commitment celebrating Candlemas and a great way to check out the children’s program at St. John’s. Just show up and enjoy this celebration!
All children ages 3- 18 (of any denomination) are invited to participate and celebrate.

Gloucester Historical Commission

Hi, Joey,

Wonder if you would post the following notice in Good Morning Gloucester. I know your readers include the people we are looking for to join us in historic preservation efforts.

The Gloucester Historical Commission (GHC) seeks prospective members and alternates. Its mission is to preserve, protect and develop public awareness of Gloucester’s historical assets.
The GHC has up to seven members (all volunteers), each appointed by the Mayor for a 3-year term. We need Gloucester residents with special interest, competence, knowledge, or professional background in history, architecture and architectural history, planning, prehistoric and historic archaeology, anthropology, preservation and conservation, landscape architecture, cultural geography, or property law.
Our meetings, which are open to the public, are held the last Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall third floor conference room. The next meeting is January 26.
For more information contact co-chairman David Rhinelander at davidrx@aol.com or Mary Ellen Lepionka at me.lepionka@Verizon.net.
