The awards, given since 2006 by the Gloucester Unitarian Universalist Church, recognize civic contributions that embody the best of the spirit that guides Unitarian Universalism: open-hearted giving to others, solely for what those gifts mean, for no pay, and often with no public notice. The men and women being recognized were chosen by the church Social Justice Committee from nearly 50 nominations submitted by the congregation and the
public. The honorees this year are:
Dennis Acker and Rick Doucette

Congratulations to all, especially Paul Harling, who was in charge of Sea Scouts, Ship 56, back when I was approx 13-14 years old (1967-68 Timeframe.) He gave us a lot to look forward to with the discipline he installed upon us in Sea Scouts. This eventually led me to join the military in which I stayed 20 yrs. Thanks Paul for a job well done, keeping us off the streets and provided hours of fun with the Truant, Bicarb, and the Burp, (His boats!) Remember very well, when we entered one of the first Schooner races in Gloucester! I hope he still has possession of the trophy Ed and I won in the 2-man Dory races at the annual Sea Scout Regatta in Stage Fort Park! THANKS! Oh and Fr Garibaldi, looks great, remember him from St Ann’s School (61-’69) He was such a nice priest as I remember! Looking GOOD Father!
