Don MacEachern told me about his experiences as a teenager in the ’40s in Gloucester making oilskins for the fishermen.

What a beautiful face – character and life are ingrained in the face of an elder. It’s too bad that our society has such a fixation on youth and blandness. Here’s to wrinkles!

Great Picture – wondering if it is possible to get a copy of the picture for our family members. Thanks

I believe he is a ‘Mc’ not a ‘Mac’….if it’s the same Don McEachern I seem to recognize – he is my dear friend’s uncle and a very truly nice man – no matter how the surname is spelled.

Yes you are correct it is Don “Buzz” McEachern. This is my grandfather and I have to say what an absolutely beautiful picture of him.

Don “Buzz” is an absolute treasure – well worth listening to! He helped create our Shipbuilders of Vincent Cove presentation which was been running on CATV last month. He’s the grandson of the last shipbuilder there. He also shared his oilskin experiences at this month’s “Working Waterfront” History Sharing Programs at the Rose Baker Center and Seacoast. Watch for this on CATV soon to hear his fascinating description of how we used to make oilskins for our fishermen.
