Aquatro Opens A Gorgeous New Gallery For Summer 2013 In Gloucester’s Rocky Neck Cultural District

After last year’s success, Aquatro Gallery returns to Rocky Neck for the 2013 summer season in a new, larger location with a carefully-selected group of works by talented artists they’ve invited.

Aquatro quickly established itself as a must-stop destination in Rocky Neck for tourists and regulars alike. This came as no surprise to returning artists/designer, Gigi Mederos, whose freshman year on the Neck saw her and partner, Stevie Black, running Adriana Mederos Studio and Gallery, a live-and-work space they serendipitously found after enjoying a two-week run as a guest  artist of Ejay Lefavour’s Khan Studio Gallery during summer 2011. Once again, like last year when they were a couple doors down the wharf at Gallery #6, Aquatro Gallery needs more room to grow.

Aquatro Gallery remains bright and inviting, with an even better selection of contemporary fine art, jewelry and artful accessories in its new location at 77 Rocky Neck Avenue, Gallery #4 – still on Madfish Wharf in the heart of the Rocky Neck Art Colony, where the high-season runs from Memorial Day to Columbus Day. This year Memorial Day weekend marks the beginning of summer on the Neck and Aquatro Gallery will be open from Wednesday through Monday that weekend, from 12PM – 8 PM; their normal hours throughout the summer until Columbus Day.Catherine-McMurray_Mackersie-Copper-glazed_Ceramics_2012

Here is but a taste of what you can expect to find at Aquatro this year:

belle+me, the fun, flirty, French line of scarves and pendants created by Rocky Neck friends, Anne Malvaux and Lisa LeVasseur.

Todas Las Musas, silver and enamel jewelry from Alejandra González and Gela Mederos.

Tami Rodrig’s delightful earrings and pendants from Happy Art Studio make their Rocky Neck debut at Aquatro.

Elegant and functional Turning Grace Studio pottery by New England native and now Nashville ceramicist, Catherine McMurray.

The intelligently humorous and deceptively simple wire sculptures of Boston’s South End artist, Brian Murphy.

You will also find paintings by Ben MacAdam and Tom Nihan, mixed media constructions by Liz Horwitz, and Mary Bowles’ decorative mosaic mirrors will make you happy to catch glimpses of yourself throughout your day. Aquatro also introduces Glamourosa, beaded earrings by young Cambridge artist, Alisa Amador and new, first-editions of designs and products from Guatopo, the surface and textile design studio launched last year by Stevie Black and Gigi Mederos.

Joey,

Carla Benjamin of the Cape Ann Relay for Life team “Friends for Friends” will be hosting Todd Ruggere’s “Mass Beer Tour” at Jalapeno’s Restaurant.

Todd is raising money for Dana Farber Cancer Institute and children’s cancer research. We are hoping people will stop by Jalapeno’s on Sunday, May 19th at 5pm and say hello to Todd, have a beer and if you’d like make a small donation. Todd is visiting 351 cities/towns in 365 days and drinking a beer in each one. Todd has already visited over 162 cities and towns in the commonwealth.

We would like to thank Cape Ann Relay for Life and Jalapeno’s for supporting Cape Ann’s continued fight against cancer.  Thanks, Bill Trefry
