Loon photos from Lake Dunmore, Vermont

Joey–

I am loath to leave Gloucester in the summer, but I make an annual exception for Lake Dunmore, Vermont.

Here are a couple of photos of some great northern loons that I took while kayaking on the lake.  These loons are closely related to our cormorants, and are magnificent animals.

  4. We have loons on our northern midwest lakes (think Minnensota). Really beautiful birds, with a most haunting call. I hope you got to hear them talk.

  5. I spent about 6 hours on the lake following this family of four loons around. I “recorded” several clips of the loons calling on my camera, but when I got “home”, I discovered that I had “not” in fact recorded “anything at all.”
