On June 24th, Vincent’s 99th Birthday, his friend Lee Strauss challenged the GWC to match a $5,000 grant. At this time we have just over $2,000 more to raise. Bennington Writers Read

Wednesday, July 18th at 7:30 pm @GWC

Come hear Patricia Sutherland and Charlotte Coe Lemann. Patricia will read from an essay of her memoir, I Belong To Glasgow, which was recently published in Consequence Magazine. Charlotte will read from her current manuscript, To Bear the Beams of Love, to be completed by her 80th birthday, a year from now.

Vincent and Vivian will use Charles Olson’s Maximus Poems, in

tandem with the poet’s biography, to make an examination of

place and time. As they have done in the past when researching

locales related to the Roman poet Sextus Propertius, so in

Gloucester they will use Maximus, plus other writings, as a map

to trace locales of importance to Olson.
