Did You Know? (Homies Fish)

I had taken this shot because I liked the scene, and it wasn’t until I looked at it on my computer that I saw the homie diving for a fish.  I think of them more as scavengers, beggars and thieves and harvesting and dropping mussels and clams on rocks, docks and rooftops.  I don’t ever recall seeing one dive into the water like this.  They probably do it all the time, I just never caught one doing it before.

  1. I live on Wheeler point and we have seagulls fishing for crabs behind our house all the time. The stake out on a rock and wait for the right moment to pounce. It’s quite amusing because they are clumsy at it and usually take many attempts before they catch one. Then they carry it to a neighbor’s dock and try to pull its legs off before it runs away!

  2. I am riding on a train to NYC for a meeting and I check GMG and there is my old neighborhood (Wheelers Point). Makes my whole day. Great shot EJ!
