It’s sad to see this great landmark go. Thanks for keeping it immortal through these great pics!

But, Walt, remember it is not going! They had to tear down the shed (which was not part of the original 1870’s structure) as it was too far detiorated to be saved, but they are working on restoring the remainding buildings.
Great pics, Paul, thanks for sharing, it is really something to see the marked changes in 4 short years.

hI, Jenn,
I hate to inform you but, The main Manufactory Building will also be Demolished when Ocean Alliance gets the cash to do it. Due to all the Toxic and heavy metal contamination. There will be only a few small buildings standing. It will look nothing at all like what you see from your apartment now. enjoy the view! it will probably be a few or more years before you see anything like what your seeing today. Hopefully a whale loving rich donor will pass the surly bonds of earth soon and leave them alot of cash.

Thanks, Paul…I guess no matter how many stories I read on this, I don’t fully comprehend the end state, or I don’t allow myself to. For now, I will enjoy the view from my apartment and also all the wonderful old pics, sketches and paintings that you and others do! Jenn

Amazing to see how much it deteriorated since 2007. I got closeup shots recently outside the main building, and you could barely read the letters the boards were so broken up and worn, and the shed building looks like its standing up straight and strong in these photos. What happened?
