Local Etsy Web Business Feature – Simply Daisy

We are very excited with the response around our Local Web Feature. I am really finding there are some great people exploring new ways to go beyond traditional methods of artisan selling. Today we feature Rockport Artist, Lisa Vincent. This week you get 3 for one. She has 2 ETSY sites and the bonus is she  just put up hot off the press, dazzling Valentine’s Day pieces. What I love with this pottery is that she makes use of vibrant colors. Lisa is inspired by her children and her husband, Eoin, who is an amazing Photographer himself. You can read a great article by Rockport Artists that features some Q&A with Lisa. So get over to the site now and get something that will just make that time when you sit down with tea or hot chocolate just a little warmer. You can also add some of her hand knits and sewn goodies at her InStitches Designs ETSY site.

Did You know (Who’s Got Talent)

Whether you were at the 7th Annual Annisquam Village Church Talent Show and want to relive it a little, or you missed it and want to see some of what you missed, check out some video clips here.  It was a jam-packed house, with a great potluck supper, some really good talent, and a successful benefit for the Haiti Project.  A good time was had by all.  I thought people might get a kick out of the “How to Speak Gloucester – Liquor Locker” skit.  It was a great plug for the Liquor Locker, as I heard a number of people asking if it was a real place, which they will probably now check out.  The kids in the first video are just so precious, especially the one in the yellow shirt.

Gloucester Rotary: Polar Plunge to End Polio Now

Julie LaFontaine Writes-

Hi Joey,

The Gloucester Rotary Club president, Josh Arnold, is just crazy enough to participate in a Polar Plunge to End Polio Now. The plunge is going down at Long Beach, Cape Ann Motor Inn, on Saturday, February 12, at 11:30 a.m. sharp! Josh will join 47 other club representatives from Rotary District 7930 to brave the frigid temperatures. Donations of any size to support End Polio Now and to support Josh’s lunacy would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be mailed to: Rotary Club of Gloucester Foundation, P.O. Box 1228, Gloucester, MA 01931. Please include GMG: End Polio Now in the memo line.

Contributions will help Rotary International raise $200 million to match $355 million in challenge grants received from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The resulting $555 million will directly support immunization campaigns in developing countries, where polio continues to infect and paralyze children, robbing them of their futures and compounding the hardships faced by their families. Together, we can make a difference.

We would really like to have people come out and show their support. Hot Chocolate and Chowder will be provided courtesy of the Rotary Club of Gloucester, MA. If you could help us get the word out, it would be greatly appreciated.

Where’s The Good Morning Gloucester Sticka!

Who will be the first to Stick one on there?

Sunny February Sunday!

This young male seal was hanging by the dunes yesterday. Hard to keep the dogs from checking him out. The marine crew put up a sign to stay back, but the dogs….! Anyone know if the seal made it back to the ocean yet?

Annie’s been very sick, but she’s getting better everyday. Fresh air on the beach always helps!

Those two brown dogs were FAST!
