Attention 3D Electronics Manufacturers – I Don’t Care

Speaking solely for myself (and anyone that doesn’t feel like looking ridiculous in the comfort of their own home).

Here’s a little missive to the electronics manufacturers who, in the quest to try to bring us new technology that we will feel renders our existing technology obsolete have been investing billions in research and development to bring us 3D cameras, video cameras, monitors and televisions.

Do you really think that people are going to sit around the living room wearing huge black 3D glasses?

I find it sort of sad because one of my favorite camera makers- Sony is one of the leading pushers of this technology.  It would have been nicer if that money was spent developing faster internet, sharper displays, lighter laptops, compact cameras with large sensors and longer than 5 times zooms, or any other number improvements to existing technology rather than trying to sell the public on a technology that in my estimation very few people really care about.

Seriously?

  1. I’m all set. I’ve got two cardboard pairs from old movie theatre visits and a prism cardboard pair so I can be totally awesome at all times.

Did you hear about the printers that print smell? They’ve gotten all smells down to I think 6 scents that then mix to make all scents. (Like CMYK for ink mix to make all printed colors, unless you can afford additional custom PMS colors which come in neon and metallic as well.) Then you have a printer that prints smells for you. Yet to catch on for some unknown reason… 🙂 Vending machines and some restaurants or food booths have these scent emitters that project scent (or sound such as the opening of a refreshing can) do draw you in subconsciously.

  2. I am going to disagree with my friend Joey C on this one. Here is why – When the first plasma came out and was 20 grand I’m sure someone said this won’t work!! This sucks! I love my tube telivision – I don’t care what Sony says…. End of story. If our technology companies didn’t push forward with new designs and continue to push on the technology we wouldn’t have a 46″ inch tv for 600 bucks! 3d whether you love it or hate it will be in the future generations of tvs for gamers, tv shows and other viewing experiences. The glasses will become more and more seamless – they already have ones more stylish than glasses that Joey C aka 3 d hater has. Check these glasses out. 3d also has some features we will want for the web and education… biology, etc. I am sure that sun glasses you buy at sunglass hut soon will be dual feature 3d/sun.
