From rainbow to power outages, the wind and rain storm of October 30, 2017 had it all.

Almost looks like stain glass.

Still waves on Shore Road, love how the sun shines through the waves.

The snapshot was taken three hours before high tide. I wasn’t able to get away at noon to have a look and wonder what remnants of Jose our readers saw today?

On Thursday the waves were awesome on Magnolia Beach. Had to be very careful do to quite an undertow. Just beautiful.

and a couple of stand up paddle boarders enjoying the end of summer rollers. Nice waves out there.

On Tuesday afternoon the waves were awesome on Magnolia Beach. Love the beach is my mantra.

Well, Thursday had wind, rain, waves and then the lightning.

The spray from the waves were amazing on Sunday. Becoming obsessed with waves.

On Wednesday decided to take a ride to the Back Shore and on Shore Road. Lots of wave action a couple of hours after high tide.

Back Shore

Venturing out today around 1:00pm, I caught the tail end of the storm. The winds were still blizzarding and great gusts of snow made places like Brace Cove impossible to photograph. The tide was super high at Good Harbor Beach, but not as high as some recent storms. The waves were tremendous, although they weren’t the ginormous rollers of many nor’easters either.
Seagulls and sanderlings were hunkering down in the coves and others, sailing the surf.
Mr. Swan was safely nestled in along the shore at Niles Pond yesterday morning during the nor’easter. I found him this morning sleeping amongst the reeds, none the worse for the storm.
Niles Pond Causeway
The newly restored causeway weathered the storm beautifully. By day’s end the waves had settled but this morning at high tide they were still packing some fury. In the next photo, I am standing on the far side of the pond, looking towards Brace Cove. As you can see, the waves were crashing into the causeway.
What an awesome display of Mother Nature’s power.
Even a couple of days after the snow the waves were letting us know that Mother Nature is in charge.
