Wayne berger Shares His Rainwater Collection Barrel Design With Us

Joey:

Great seeing you and the gang on Sunday at the parade.  You guys certainly made it more fun and entertaining.  VERY much appreciated.

As you requested and I promised to do, attached are pictures of the completed rain barrel that I got from you.  As with many projects I was a bit unconventional in my way of doing things.

I put a floor drain in the bottom of the barrel (so that I can get as many drops of water out as possible) rather than on the side as so many barrels are designed.  This required an open bottom platform, but the 4×4’s worked well.

I used two inexpensive flower pots (plastic type) with a piece (12″x12″) sandwiched between them where the water enters the top.  I saw this trick on the internet; as a way to keep mosquitoes from getting into the barrel.  I’ll see if it works.

currently I do not have an overflow outlet installed.  I was waiting to see how much rain it actually collects before deciding what to do.  I have already found out that I will need some sort of overflow as in the brief storm on Friday night I collected nearly 50 gallons of water.  Even the light showers this morning yielded another 30 gallons and that is from one half of our roof on a very small house.

Thanks again; I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time and you and your generosity made it possible.

Keep up the good work,

Wayne

Again you can head on down to Alexandra’s Bread Co to buy this limited edition numbered print all framed for only $35.  That’s just ridiculous!  Make sure to tell Alexandra if you had any interest in buying a plate or set of the china if this print is ever produced in that form.

Mary Rhinelander’s Limited Edition Cape Ann Blue Willow China Design

There is a limited edition copy of Mary Rhinelander’s Blue Willow China Pattern Design at Alexandra’s Bread Co.

It hasn’t been made into china yet but I’m thinking that some of the finer shops in town like The Black Swan, Stone Leaf, Pauline’s Gifts or Pisces would sell the hell out of this if it were made into China to collectors or people that love the area.

Timeless, just like the stuff that comes out of the Acorn Press.  This framed, numbered, limited edition print sells for only $35 at Alexandra’s Bread Co.

The Whitelaw Hotel Lobby

The Whitelaw Hotel Lobby, originally uploaded by captjoe06.

I can’t attest for the rooms as I didn’t get past the lobby, but the decor was sexy as hell. Those Victorian style chairs were way oversized. I’ve never seen such bold statements in decor in person. The only thing that might have come close was Graceland as far as over the top design in a small space.

It’s not demure, it’s not understated, they went for it in a big way. This probably wouldn’t work in too many places but it works here in South Beach.
