The MS Fram was in port yesterday. I scooted down there to get some pics for you guys. My ultimate goal was to get aboard by flashing my Good Morning Gloucester Press Badge and asking the Captain for a tour of the Bridge so I could videotape it for y’all but security was tighter than a a bull’s ass come fly season. They were stopping everyone who wanted to get past the barricades at Cruiseport, even the people that worked there.
Luckily I know some folks that got me past the velvet rope and got some shots for you. Not to mention FOB Cynthia Hill who got us some shots aboard the boat.

Portside Grille At Cruiseport has been packed every single day. One of the recurring things I’ve been noting when soliciting feedback from people about the Block Parties is that people really love alfresco dining. Other than the Block Parties there are a few places you can really enjoy this type of dining around town -the Cruiseport unique-to-Gloucester sliding open frontage to the waterfront, Lobster Pool Restaurant in Folly Cove, the Rudder, the Studio, Latitude 43 deck and the Gloucester House.
Hopefully some group of downtown business owners get together and find a concensus as to how they would like to close Main Street to vehicular traffic on Friday and Saturday nights throughout the summer. Gloucester Crossing will be opening soon. It is of my opinion that the Downtown business owners really ought to start thinking about soliciting the city for the street closures as a way to differentiate and make Downtown Gloucester the destination it has been developing into. They just need to take it to the next step. It wouldn’t have to be a Block Party every summer weekend night but if the Block Parties showed anything it was that Gloucester is a social city and given the opportunity to see and be seen people will show up.

The fishing Boats “Sunlight” and “Starlight” unloading at the Cruiseport. As they started, the placed filled with Homies. Those poor guys must get shit all over them.
Here is the view looking North and East from Cruiseport’s deck.

In keeping with the Cruiseport theme. Taken from the State Fish Pier showing the port at night. The lighting was done well and should provide nice illumination for boaters cruising the channel at night.
Here is the view of the place when you enter the front door from the Rogers Street side looking toward Gloucester Harbor.

Join me for a short trip around the under construction new dining facility at Cruiseport Gloucester and look for a slide show later in the week with photos from the excavation, pouring of the foundation, framing, all the way up to it’s current state of construction.
The bar stools are in, the taps are in the bar, the flooring is mostly done, the lighting is in.

There are many different media formats that the people at Art Haven encourage. Here is some pottery. There is also a dark room forthcoming for work with film.

Don’t anyone even think about getting into a bidding war with me at tomorrow nights lobster buoy auction to benefit Art Haven at Cruiseport. I have my eye on that lobster buoy and I don’t want things to get ugly so just stay the hell away from bidding on the lobster one.

Tomorrow Night At Cruiseport! For $5 Measly Bucks You Get To Eat food From many of the great restaurants around town. How can they feed you for $5 you ask? Cruiseport graciously donated the space and the restaurants donated the grub! Hey we got some generous business owners around here that like to support good causes, what can we say?
So take advantage damnit! Get down to Cruiseport tomorrow night and help make the Arts thrive in Gloucester, especially arts for our children!
