MS Fram Pics From Aboard The Ship From Cynthia Hill

MS Fram Pics From Aboard The Ship From Cynthia Hill, originally uploaded by captjoe06.

From FOB Cynthia Hill-

Hi cutie,
Totally wonderful to see you today…..sorry, nobody could visit the bridge today, as the Coasties were aboard, in deep discussion with the Captain, but I did take a few pictures – poor ones, but pictures none the less.
This is an exploration ship, spending most of her time in and around the Arctic Circle, Greenland and the Antarctica – this is a repositioning cruise, which is generally lower in cost, to get the ship to South America to begin the winter season in Antartica.
The FRAM’s skipper, Captain Arnvid Hansen was the captain who rescued 154 passengers from MS Explorer, after she hit an iceberg and sank in 2007. Captain Hansen was the skipper of the Nordnorge at the time, and executed a perfect recovery, saving all involved.
The FRAM was built two years ago, and can hold 391 passengers. The furnishings are crisp, bright and have the clean lines of typical Scandinavian style.  Have attached a few pictures, including, Capt. Joey’s, from the Observation Lounge.
Sorry, Joey….I know you wanted the bridge.
See you next week,
Hugs,
Cynthia

MS Fram visits Gloucester October 8, 2009

The MS Fram was in port yesterday.  I scooted down there to get some pics for you guys.  My ultimate goal was to get aboard by flashing my Good Morning Gloucester Press Badge and asking the Captain for a tour of the Bridge so I could videotape it for y’all but security was tighter than a a bull’s ass come fly season.  They were stopping everyone who wanted to get past the barricades at Cruiseport, even the people that worked there.

Luckily I know some folks that got me past the velvet rope and  got some shots for you.  Not to mention FOB Cynthia Hill who got us some shots aboard the boat.

MS FRAM approaches Cruisport, originally uploaded by captjoe06.

The MS Fram was scheduled for an Arctic to Antarctic 67 day cruise with a stop in Gloucester on October 6, 2008.

I wonder if the trip will be pushed back. I doubt it but really interesting info about it from it’s website found here including prices for the trip and all the cool destinations along the way-
