Holland America Cruise Ship Eurodam Coming to Cruiseport Sunday, September 16

Good day. I am writing today to remind everyone that the next major cruise ship of the season will be arriving in Gloucester Harbor on this coming Sunday, September 16: Holland America’s cruise ship the ms Eurodam, with a capacity of 2104 passengers. Once again the Chamber will be working together with the city of Gloucester’s volunteer welcoming committee and CATA to welcome and guide Eurodam’s passengers as they disembark and arrive at the Cruiseport terminal. The first tenders carrying passengers from the ship are expected to arrive at Cruiseport at approximately 9:00 am Sunday. Many will board motor coaches for planned excursions to various locations, while many others will be guided to CATA trolleys and buses for transportation to downtown Gloucester and Rockport.
Please note the attached “Welcome Eurodam Passengers” flyer, which we encourage you to print and post at your place of business to help give the Eurodam passengers a hearty Cape Ann welcome. I have also attached a flyer featuring several upcoming Chamber and community events scheduled for September and October, including next Tuesday’s (September 18) sales seminar with author Marc Wayshak at the Elks at Bass Rocks, beginning with check-in at 7:30 am. So I Head Over To Deliver Lobsters At Cruiseport
It’s 11:00AM, and there’s only a handful of restaurant patrons but the kitchen is buzzing with about 5 chefs and 10 servers in anticipation of a busy afternoon ahead. I poke my head into the back prep room and there’s Sheree DeLorenzo head down with her apron on shucking lobsters. The woman doesn’t stop. You’d think with a restaurant this big and with a staff that large the owner would be pointing fingers telling the chefs what to do or having her managers telling her chefs what to do, but no. She’s out back at the sink shucking away with a smile on her face. The American Workhorse defined.
This is part of what makes a great entrepreneur, a willingness to get your hands dirty and do whatever it takes. No job is beneath the American entrepreneur.

Restaurant News- Catch 22 Seaside Bistro Info
OK, this is what you need to know-
They are shooting for an April 1st opening.
It is owned by the same company that owns Espresso in East Gloucester but it will be operated as a stand alone restaurant under that company umbrella.
If you, like me had thoughts that this space was going to look like a dungeon inside let me tell you now that people are going to be blown away by the complete upscale renovation inside. I obviously can’t speak to the food because it isn’t opened but they pulled out all the stops on the decor. Money obviously was not an issue.
I was scratching my head when I heard that there was going to be another seafood restaurant in that area thinking that there was already a ton of restaurants in that area of Main/Rogers Street and that average just won’t cut it but let me tell you if the food and service are on par with the interior renovation they just may have a shot.
It takes balls to open a restaurant in the thick of at least a dozen great restaurants within a quarter of a mile radius. They must feel good about their prospects in our beloved City. They will be representing at Taste of Cape Ann Sponsored by the Gloucester Daily Times at Cruiseport Wednesday March 23rd. I’ll be interested to talk to the chef and get their perspective on what they will be bringing to The Gloucester Table.

This Is It!!!!! Friday Night- The Art Haven Lobster Buoy Auction and Art Show
You know all that positive energy that began way back when the lobstermen donated the use of their traps, the merry elves from Art Haven and the usual suspects spent days coordinating and building the lobster trap tree, the kids (and some adults) painted very special buoys to adorn the shining beacon of community spirit that is The 2010 Lobster Trap Tree?
Well here comes the payoff! Here comes the celebration! The night when everyone comes together to laugh, shout and enjoy each other’s company at Cruiseport for the Third Annual Art Haven Lobster Buoy Auction.
What better event to tie our incredible community together than the Art (Art Haven) and Sole (fishing community) in one huge collaborative ball of positive energy?
THIS IS IT!!!!!!
I can personally tell you this event is so much fun. To see these kids beaming on stage as their hand painted buoy gets bid on is absolutely priceless.
So get yourself and your family down to Art Haven and soak in all that positive energy baby! It’s on Friday night at 6:00PM

A special thank you to all involved with the 2010 Lobster Trap Christmas Tree. The tree isn’t as big as last year but It certainly is a beauty. Standing around 30 ft. topped off with a lobster trap star.

Cruiseport Welcomes Eurodam Passengers Photos from Donna Ardizzoni
It seems like with every new Cruise Ship that comes into port that more and more passengers are opting to stay in Gloucester. That is a really good thing.
Thanks to all the volunteers like our Donna Ardizzoni and the people from the Visitors center that volunteer their time to help out at the scene.
