Sawyer Free Art Auction! Only a Few More Days Left!

This the last full week for bidding on the Paintings that are up for Auction at The Sawyer Free Library.

This is a great Video Joey did of last years Art Auction. It describes How the Silent bidding works at the Library Art Auction.

I usually Contribute a Traditional Cape Ann scene. This Year I entered a Bright Floral Painting. I was a little bummed out Saturday when I checked the Bid Book. So far there are no bids on it. Bidding on the Painting starts a $50.00.

Even If it doesn’t sell I Have the perfect spot for it. it will be my Xmas gift to myself.

My painting is at the top left

The Gloucester Sketchbook Project Update from eb

Gloucester Sketchbook Project Update from eb

BECAUSE of other various projects, I haven’t been able to work on my sketchbook for the past few weeks and thus there’s been a lack of updates. Sorry! So here’s a snippet of what I’ve started up with:

The hand written typography is something that I’m really excited about! I haven’t been terribly active with type in a long time, and it felt incredibly satisfying to do some hand lettering. Some are visuals that I copied by eye, just to get my craft back, but none are traced from the source. The ‘u’ in the pencil draft needs to be corrected though….its opposite slant is driving me crazy, sketch or no sketch.

Going, Going, Going……………………

It’s That Time of Year Again!

It’s Time for the Annual Art Auction at the Sawyer Free Library right here in Gloucester, Massachusetts.

This is your chance to win a beautiful piece of Artwork from Some Great Cape Ann Artists!

The Bidding Starts low and if your Lucky you’ll win your favorite Painting. There’s always great stuff to choose from.

From the Sawyer Free Library;

The Art Advisory Committee of the Sawyer Free Library is sponsoring the  always popular “Annual Art Auction” in the Matz Gallery the entire month of November.

Patrons are invited to come in and view Original Paintings by Local Artists.

Silent bids will be accepted the entire month.

Great interest is generated throughout the month as the Bid Book fills up.

A Final Live Vocal Auction will take place on Dec. 1, 2010 at 7 p.m. A preview party will precede the auction.

The Final Vocal Auction is always an exciting event. There will be a lot of Beautiful Paintings on display.

Go Check it out! and Bid!

Below is my contribution to this years Auction.

A Gloucester Sketchbook Project Update from Carol McKenna’s Yorkie

A Gloucester Sketchbook Project Update from Carol McKenna’s Yorkie!

Little Buddha "ZOE" photo by Gisela Turner

This photo is part of the Sketchbook Project that my owner decided to enter. The project is keeping her busy and she says it is quite interesting. What is the Sketchbook Project? It is a traveling event whereby you enter the sketchbook that you purchased from the event after you have filled it up with art.  Then in January you send it in all finished. Then it begins to travel around the United States to various libraries and then comes home and is housed in the Brooklyn library. (wonder if they have dogs in the library?) In her Sketch Book, she is including pencil sketches, watercolor paintings, favorite quotes with watercolor background and recycled watercolor paintings that really didn’t work for her. Personally, I would have welcome the dropped pieces and chased them around. Nope, now she is going “green” and trying recycle everything. I will still hope for the “crumbs” that I can eat or use as a toy.
This particular collage piece above is one of those “recycled babies” ~ I looked real closely and laughed because in the center it looks like one of those “Where’s Waldo” types or even one of the guards at Buckingham Palace. Look closely and let me know if you see it also? My owner can get real weird sometimes; yet you know I love her and sit and watch faithfully what she creates. She thinks I am sleeping and that is okay I will keep watching. She is soooooooo much fun to watch.
Now, my owner has decided that I can be the writer of this blog because I am always snuggling up to her laptop and she says I interrupt her when she is typing so now I get to do the typing. Boy, what I get for being so faithful and loving. Yep, I get treats, walks, hugs and to be near her most of the time. She sometimes goes out and leaves me home to take care of the house. I don’t mind, I love her and I know she loves me. So, I try to give her good “mojo” so that she will be happy creating and creating wonderful creations from her soul. You are probably laughing that a “dog” is writing this but I am. I am a real smart Yorkie; not just a cutie, you know.
Hugs and namaste,
Artmusedog

PS. Do you know what namaste means?

Sundays Art Rock Found!

Sorry, Mr. Morrision your Scientific Theory of the Rock Jumping back into the Sea has been disproved.

Email from the Finder;

“I just wanted to let you know that I found “your” Good Harbor Beach Rock and am just delighted with it.  I follow Good Morning Gloucester daily.  When I saw the rock on the site Sunday morning I just knew I had to have it.  So, my husband and I raced off to Good Harbor Beach because we knew just where it was perched and we believe we had an advantage because of the time change.  What makes this rock even more special to me is that I have worked in the house in which you sketched on the rock for the past 23 years.  Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to have such a special piece of art in my home.  I look forward to finding more of your Art Rocks.  Thank you”

The Finder didn’t give me her name. She’s welcomed to leave a comment if she likes.
