Jersey Boy’s

Never knew how many songs the “Four Seasons” made famous . Cathy and I went to see the Jersey Boys Tuesday night at the Hampton theater in Worcester. The theater was awesome. great seats,  great sound. We stayed at the same hotel as the crew and hung out with them. If you get a chance to see the show go for it! And a lot of “F” Words. My kind of show. Check them out on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM4fMmMq1S0

Sista’s Helpful Tips…Learn How To Hand Paint Sugar Cookies

Print

My friends at Audrey’s Flower Shop asked if I could lend a helping hand by making 100 flower themed sugar cookies for their table at tomorrow’s Bridal Show scheduled to take place at Cruiseport Gloucester.   I didn’t bat an eye at the 100 cookie request but the “flower” theme had me a little worried.  I can bake all day and shape and frost cookies all night but give me a pastry bag and ask me to get fancy with it, and I’m instantly out of my comfort zone.  I turned to YouTube for a crash course in piping frosting using pastry tips and came across a video tutorial that changed my world!  After viewing the Wilton company’s  brush stroke  embroidery technique using royal icing 15 times, I decided to give it a try.  I sketched a design template and began  the process. I was instantly WOW”d! The results were amazing and I quickly learned that their ridiculously forgiving technique  was  perfect for someone like me who lacks the artistic skills needed to produce professional results when using a pastry bag.

The Flake Yard, Rocky Neck

These fish fillets are drying in the open air on Rocky Neck. They don't rot because they've been salted. People have asked me why the seagulls aren't feasting on this buffet, and I've heard two answers: The fish are too salty for the gulls, and maybe it's the guys standing around with shotguns. I believe the first theory. Please inform us if you know!

There’s A Reason the Causeway Restaurant Is Ranked 5th our of 127 Restaurants In Gloucester On trip Advisor

I have no idea how they put out the quality food and huge portions that they do at The Causeway but I’m not about to question it- the formula just works.  People drive from Upstate New York just to eat here.

Insider tip:

This is the time of year to eat here.  I don’t even bother in the summer because I’m not the kinda guy that waits a half hour for a seat at a restaurant.  But this time of year you can get in, especially if you go just before noon or just after noon.

Round Up of Top 2013 Local and National Art Stories: Advocacy

Hats off to Catherine Ryan for this amazing series!

THANK YOU CATHERINE!!!

Part One: ADVOCACY

The word “Creative” Replacing the noun ‘artist’ with ‘creative’ nearly mainstream, at least for the DIY and the art world!

National news, December 5, 2013: No, not Art Basel. Not the sale at Christies. It’s the Arts impact on the GDP. The National Endowment for the Arts and the US Bureau of Economic Analysis released results of their joint report announcing that the creative sector (2011) added 500 billion to the United States Gross Domestic Product. With this base number at last in place, the arts impact on GDP can be measured annually from hereon. The GDP measures the nation’s production of goods and services. Putting the pressure on and leading the stats, contributors included Hollywood film industry, cable TV production, advertising, broadcasting, the performing arts, publishing, independent artists, and design and architectural services. Other measurable indicators include production output and workforce. Analysts estimated the production output for the creative sector to be greater than 900 billion (where arts education including college departments joins the list), and 2 million plus folks working in the creative sector.

Joey’s sick post about a deer farting got me to thinking and so I loaded up Stella with some beans.

smalldogCould I get this cute dog to rip off a full beaner? Well if you are over 13, click the more button button below. Don’t be eating your lunch. Go ahead. I am learning how to use the “more” button. I promise there are no rubber ducks involved.
