Henry Cooper Submits Marina Evans Video from Granite Visions

Hi Kim,

The GMG post looks awesome, thanks for tagging Granite Visions in it. Granite Visions is a video production project between my friend Michael Kelly and myself. We have a few videos on our youtube channel: www.youtube.com/granitevisions. We’re working on a website.

One of our latest projects is a really great looking interview and 2 music videos featuring Cape Ann singer/songwriter Marina Evans. Any way we could get these on GMG?

Thanks,
Henry

Hi Henry,  I posted Unbound and provided the link so readers can check out your YouTube channel here. Best wishes with your new website!

Lisa Marie Tonight @ The Dave Sag’s Blues Party!

dave sag rl mo

She’s back….! That boisterous belter of the blues: Ms. Lisa Marie. Just back from the cotton harvest in Mississippi, she’s ready to drop that eleven foot sack on your big toe. One of our faves, this gal has the wherewithal to get your intestines in a double clove hitch! Till you cry “ooh whee!”
She’ll be bringing along her posse of sympathetic players including “Silvertone” Steve or is it “Silverfish?” on guitar, Johnny Juxo, a new guy for me, on kleeboards, and Steevee “HaHa” Chaggaris, on defibrillators. I’ll be on base, in the corner, and hopefully, in the pocket.  Do come! Our new hours are 8:30 to 11:30.
And like Dave Brown says:” We are nothing without you!” I mean it. Free Serutan® to the first 300 contented fans!

Grilled Ginger Infused Mahi-Mahi with Mango Salsa

Tuesday night’s Grilled Mahi-Mahi dinner was caught off the coast of Hatteras NC by my husband Barry’s and his buddy Ralph  during their week of male bonding and fishing!  I’m super excited to have fresh Mahi-Mahi, Grouper, and Golden Pile fish in the freezer!

Only in Gloucester!

Only in Gloucester! The two ads appeared side by side in yesterday's Gloucester Daily Times. National Geographic is looking for new tuna boats, captains and crew who are tough and outgoing. We've got plenty of fishermen just like that here. www.WickedTunaCasting@gmail.com The Seaport Grille menu, left, lists their weekly specials. My favorite is the lobster roll with fries (slaw can be substituted). It contains the meat of one lobster served in a fresh Virgillio's roll and is priced at $9.95. Seaport also has the best view of Gloucester's "working harbor."

Beautiful Creamy Panna Cotta by Willowdale’s Chef Bennie Lightbody

Panna Cotta ©Kim Smith 2014JPGToday at Willowdale we celebrated our dear friend Sarah’s new baby-on-the-way. Lots of fun was had by all and Sarah was truly surprised. I’ll post photos tomorrow after I have a few minutes to sort through, but wanted to share about this fabulous, elegant and simple desert that Bennie Lightbody, Willowdale’s Executive Chef extraordinaire, created for the shower.

Panna Cotta, which means cooked cream in Italian, is made by simmering cream, milk, and sugar with a very small amount of gelatin. The pudding is eaten all around Italy, but is thought to have originated in Piedmont. Bennie served the Panna Cotta with a coulis of mixed berries along with the whole fruit. Pure Heaven!

FRED BODIN: The Road to Recovery

Regular readers of GMG are aware that contributor and friend-to-all Fred Bodin was stricken with cancer that has damaged nerves and muscles, greatly impairing his ability to walk and function at home and in the Bodin Historic Photo gallery. He  is now undergoing intensive physical and occupational therapy. In this video, Fred takes us into a therapy session, introduces us to members of his rehab support team and talks about his illness and his hopes. As you will see and hear, he has made dramatic progress and his attitude is nothing less than inspirational.

Many of you have generously contributed to the Friends of Fred Bodin Fund. Fred will thank each of you personally. In the meantime, bills continue to come in and we urge all readers to contribute what you can so that Fred’s business and home will be waiting for him when he is back on his feet.

CANINE INFLUENZA HITS CAPE ANN… don’t panic :))

Printcoconut

Woof…Woof…Dr. Ray Cahill Writes~We wanted to offer to help answer questions and hopefully quell concerns about the Canine Influenza Virus that has now spread to the North Shore. Here’s a primer with a link to some reliable information if you think it’s blogworthy.

Best,

Ray Cahill

CANINE INFLUENZA HITS CAPE ANN… don’t panic :))

According to the State Veterinarian, multiple cases of Canine Influenza Virus (CIV) have been confirmed in dogs on the North Shore. All cases were reportedly exposed at the same day care facility in Ipswich.

The main thing to know is that this is not an epidemic. Canine Influenza is new to our area, and there is no need for alarm. Owners whose dogs go to daycare, boarding facilities or dogs shows are already familiar with the risks of traditional kennel cough and how to help protect their dogs via vaccination. CIV (the symptoms of which mimic those of kennel cough) presents one more challenge to dog care facilities and the pets that visit them. Those facilities may already be considering whether or not to require the influenza vaccine.

The Canine Influenza Virus is highly contagious between dogs but will not transmit to people or other species. Not all dogs become sick when exposed, and serious illness from CIV is uncommon. Also, just like for most diseases, dogs that are sick, immunocompromised or very young are considered most at risk.

Reliable information about CIV can be found at:
