Gloucester Supt. Richard Safier has announced the three finalists for GHS principal chosen by the search committee. They are Elizabeth Taylor, James Cook and Deborah Holman.

He has invited parents and community members to meet the three finalists at three session at 3:30 p.m. in the GHS library: Wednesday, May 18 Elizabeth Taylor, Thursday, May 19, James Cook, Monday, May 23, Deborah Holman

Congratulations and hats off to Red Shed Film Festival producer and curator Henry Cooper, Rockport Exchange President Amy Rich, and Rockport Exchange Executive Director Sarah Kelly. Imagine, two years ago the festival was held in a tent, last year at the Rockport Library, and this year at the Shalin Lui!!

Playing on the large screen at the performing center were 12 stellar short films by local filmmakers including gems by Anthony Farenwald, Nubar Alexanian, Erich Archer, Rob Apse, Persistent Productions, Henry Ferrini, and more.

The 4th annual Red Shed Film Fest is a celebration of local and global filmmaking via a selected series of
short films. Mixing genres, this year’s entries span narrative, documentary, and short episodic pilots and
established series. As in years past, there is also a science-fiction entry and a music video. All in
attendance will have the opportunity to vote for the Audience Choice Award to be given to one of the
entries screened. The winner will be announced at the post-screening reception on the third floor of the
Shalin Liu Performance Center.

The Red Shed Film Festival is part of the Motif No. 1 Day Rockport Arts Festival. Screenings will be held at the Peggy Brenner Room, Rockport Public Library, at 17 School Street.

The Brenner Room is on the second floor; take the main staircase and turn left at the top, take another left at the end of the hall and you’re there.
For the documentary shorts, there will be audience voting for the favorite first, second, and third places.

Rockport’s Motif No.1 Day, Today!

The festival goes on, rain or shine. Motif No.1 Day activities will take place as scheduled, so we will see you downtown!

The Motif No.1 Day Festival celebrates the arts in Rockport. And all of it centers around the fishing shack-artist’s studio-tourist attraction that started it all: an old building right on one of Rockport’s historic wharves that was painted so often by artists at the turn of the last century that it was given the nickname Motif No.1 by Lester Hornby, a well know artist and instructor of the period. Film, poetry, dance, music, and art-making activities are all a part of the festival, as well as historical presentations and a 5k and Fun Run, with proceeds to benefit Rockport Public Schools’ wellness initiatives.

Motif No.1 Day takes place from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, May 17th in downtown Rockport. The Motif No.1 Day 5k starts at 9am.

I am delighted to add that my Good Harbor Seal PSA was accepted to the RedShed film Festival. I’ll be there tomorrow afternoon and evening to catch all the short films by local Cape Ann filmmakers. I hope to see you there!

 

THE RED SHED FILM FESTIVAL AND BARBECUE ~ Coming This Saturday May 17th

The Red Shed Film Festival is a micro film festival featuring selected short films produced on Cape Ann, by Cape Ann filmmakers, with a focus on Cape Ann. Contributing filmmakers include Henry Ferrini and Kim Smith, along with videos produced by C.B. Fisk and Cape Ann TV.

The films range in subject matter from the creation of a C.B. Fisk pipe organ to local prominent writers and painters. Festival-goers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite film at the end of the evening.

Come for dinner and film screenings–Wally’s Bistro will be on hand from 5pm to 8:30pm offering pulled pork, mac ‘n’ cheese, and much more!

The Red Shed Film Festival takes place at Harvey Park, located in downtown Rockport (between High Street and Broadway) on Saturday, May 17, beginning at 7:00pm. The Film Festival is under the umbrella of Rockport’s annual Motif No.1 Day. The Red Shed Film Festival is produced in conjunction with Granite Visions Video Productions. Twin Lights Soda, a staple of summers on Cape Ann and manufactured in Rockport for over one hundred years, will be available during the screenings.
