When John Sebastian performs next Saturday at Gloucester’s UU Meetinghouse, he won’t be wearing the tie-dye jacket he’s got on in this video, because it’s now on display at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. He will, however, sing some of his most enduring #1 hits like “Do You Believe In Magic?”, “Daydream”, “Summer In The City” and “Welcome Back” the theme song from Welcome Back Kotter.

Fishing gear at Milk Island. Milk Island’s a cormorant and blackback seagull nesting ground. Lots of of fishing gear washes up on its lengthy gravel bar running north towards Rockport. By August  adult blackbacks start cannibalizing their young – grabbing fledglings by the neck and drowning them, dragging them ashore to pull them apart.

The lobster gear uses non-floating line, required to prevent whale entanglement and a source of large capital outlay for local lobstermen.

Shot with a home-made OliviaTech jib and a cheap $10 wide-angle lens. The guy who presents the OliviaTech jib is sort of a goofball, but I like his presentation because it leaves no doubt about how to build the jib for about $40.

James Montgomery just added young, rising Country star, Whitney Doucet to his lineup for the Celebrate Gloucester Benefit for The Open Door this Friday at Cape Ann Marina’s Waterfront Pavilion in Gloucester.  Whitney is fresh off a duet with Country Star and American Idol judge Keith Urban that blew Keith away.

Whitney’s addition to the stellar lineup will add a Country flavor to the already unique benefit concert that showcases two beautiful and talented young women namely Jazz phenom Marissa Licata, and rising Blues star Danielle Miraglia, and also one of the Founders of the Boston Rock scene Willie Loco Alexander. Backing the Montgomery Band that night will be the Sax Attack horns, one of Boston’s premiere horn sections, who add a lot of power on the songs they perform.

The very best in Blues, Rock, Jazz, and Country will all be represented in one unique electrifying performance. You may or may not know that major rock stars live right down the road in Beverly, MA.  CASPIAN, performed at Beverly’s Block Party last year, but mostly they tour the world.  On October 18, they’re celebrating their 10th year as a band with a special hometown anniversary concert at The Larcom Theatre.  Yesterday at noon, they offered pre-sale tickets to their fan-base, who turn out to be highly loyal — meaning the show is nearly sold out barely 24 hours later (most of the orchestra was sold out within an hour).  That’s what I mean when I say, “rock stars.”  So if you want to go to this once-in-a-decade event, get balcony seats now (right here).
