While at Mamieā€™s Kitchen yesterday for breakfast we were stopped by fans of GMG who had travelled up from Connecticut to go to Mamieā€™s Kitchen based on my recommendation.  I was heading for the can and these three lovely ladies stopped me and asked ā€˜Are you Joey?ā€  After replying yes, they told me how they loved the blog and were at mamieā€™s because of me.  Sweet!  I lost the piece of paper with their names on it Sad smile

This is gonna be bat-shit bananas! 

Twenty teams of men and women in bikinis and speedos trying to annihilate each other medieval style on the Dodgeball Court Behind The Farm Bar and Grille On March 4th with the profits from the entry fees  going to www.nextstep.org which provides help for teens and young adults afflicted with life threatening illnesses.

Can you imagine 20 teams of 5 and then all of their supports of how much insanity and fun that is going to be?  This is going to be the entertainment event of all of 2012!!!!!

Word Is That One of Gloucesterā€™s Biggest Supporters Of Live local Music Andy Mullholland Will Be Sporting The Speedo and Leading His Dog Bar Squad ā€œAmerican Baconā€.  Andy caused quite a stir with the team name which is a direct shot across the bow of his Cape Ann Farmerā€™s Market Seafood Throwdown Nemesis Erik Lorden From Passport whose Team had already been named ā€œCanadian Baconā€.  There will be no love lost between these mortal enemies on the Dodgeball Court.  Question Is- Who Will Bring The Meat?

We do not know how athletic these teams will be compared to the many Cross Fit and Athletic Club Squads but they will surely win the straight sexy points with their many fans!

Three new teams have signed on and we have a T Shirt Sponsor- Jungle Silkscreening and corporate promotional products  out of Ipswich!

I told you any team that signs up will get their links and logo included in every Speedo Dodgeball post leading up to the event.  GMG is only seen by 25-35,000 people a day so for you to not sponsor a team and get that recognition in these pages for your organization is just plain bad business.  Not to mention that all of the profits are going to Next Step, an organization that provides support, education and resources for teens and young adults coping with cancer and other life threatening illnesses. www.nextstepnet.org

You are the first to hear some exciting news!  We have been contacted by Mayor Carolyn Kirk to bring BACK the Gloucester Triathlon. Thanks to YOU, we had a wildly successful 2009 Gloucester Triathlon. We are thrilled to stage the event again in one of favorite race venues. 

We hope to have as soon as possible final approval from the City Council and other various department heads for a September race date (after Labor Day weekend).

Why The Patriots Deserved To Win That Game

While the rest of the country will say that the Patriots got lucky I say that they outright won the game deservedly.

People will talk about Lee Evans dropping the ball but they give no credit to the defensive player Sterling Moore who had a hand in and knocked the ball out of his hands making it not a touchdown.  It was a great defensive play and football is played on both sides of the ball offense AND defense.

If youā€™re gonna bash the Pats Defense all year long well you ought to give credit where credit is due. Great play Sterling Moore!  you made the play and the Ravensā€™ Lee Evans didnā€™t.

Then on to the missed field goal by the Ravens Billy Cundiff.  That missed field goal wasnā€™t to win the game, that was to tie the game and who was to say the Pats wouldnā€™t have scored first in overtime?

How about the Pats Defense who only allowed Ray Rice the NFLā€™s third leading yardage runningback with only 78 yards? 

The Pats earned that victory.

Time To Work Out- Gonna Hit the MAC

After sitting on a beach for a week straight and eating like a pig in Playa del Carmen Iā€™ve decided to not let myself blow up like an Alabama tick and am going to start working out again to keep off that winter spare tire.

I decided on The Manchester Athletic Club for several reasons.  The kids take swimming lessons there and the Mrs does her newfangled workouts there but also with the Gloucester and Manchester locations I can bring the girls in and set them up in the Gymazing class while I get my work out on in Manchester or I have the option to pop in the Gloucester location on a day when there might only be a couple of boats out fishing.  Being able to spend a little time with the kids at the gym and for the Mrs to have some time to herself will be a big time bonus as well!

Elizabeth Harrigan talks about getting back to working out after some time away from the gym.  I can totally relate.

It also didnā€™t hurt that they have a zero to join through January 31st deal.

Gloucester/Ipswich HighSchool Co-Op Gymnastics Team Starts Season With A Win

   This years Gloucester/Ipswich HighSchool Co-Op gymnastics team began their 2011-2012 season tonight with a win against the HWME team at the IronRail gym in Wenham.

Home Grown Baby! The NightSUP Video From Tyler Knight

Built right here on Cape Ann!!!!!!

The NightSUP was designed by Tyler, Dominic and Sylvie from Cape Ann SUP.

We showed our designs to Keith Natti over at Twin Lights Glassing. He scratched his head and looked at us like we were crazy….but in the end, so was he.Ā  Keith’s attention to detail has made this project even better than any of us hoped. We’ve tested these boards in lots of conditions and we’ve even had Harbor Seals use the light from the boards to hunt the fish below us.

So before the barage of Shark comments, We just want to say this: If YOU are the largest predator in your’ waters, then you need a SUP with LEDs. You will see your’ own waterways and wildlife in a brand new and magical way.

Double Waterproof LEDs and a rechargable batteries are the recipe for a whole new way to view nature and Paddleboard more safely at night time. This is the custom creation of a surf punk and a sup kook who put aside the chatter to come up with something RAD.

Hoping you could help spread the word once againā€¦ā€¦.

Cape Ann Pee Wee Football Championships!

Please join us this Sunday, November 13th at Newell Stadium to cheer on the participants in this years Pee Wee Football Championships!  The C team Vikings will play the Manchester Hornets at 11am.  Following the c team game the B team Vikings will also play the Manchester Hornets.  The day wraps up with the A team Vikings facing off versus the Tigers.  We look forward to a large crowd to help cheer them on.  Following the A team game, GHS will be holding their golf ball drop fundraiser at the field, it should be something to see!
