Follow up of the 100th Birthday of Ruth Hinderliter.

Our regular readers will remember the story of the coming of Ruth Hinderliter’s 100th birthday.

Well the special day came and Da Sticka was there to help celebrate!

Follow up of the 100th Birthday of Ruth Hinderliter.

First, I would like to thank all of the Good Morning Gloucester readers for their wonderful response with  cards and comments that made the big event even more festive.  Ruth’s party was held on March 20 in Pittsburgh, Pa. She was surrounded by  family and friends as she enjoyed a lunch prepared by her great grandson Robert Chermely.  Helping to serve were Robert’s wife Katie Chermely, and their son Jarrod. Also serving was Ruth’s grandson Michael Spolan, and his son Zachary, and Ruth’s great grandson Joey Benga.  Among the family that arrived from Gloucester to enjoy the day were her niece Nancy Olson, great nephew Alex Olson, great grandson Joey Benga and granddaughter Carolyn Benga.  Joining us to celebrate from Pittsburgh were her daughter Linda and son in law, John Grilli, and Chrissy.

Ruth said now that she has made it to 100, her new goal is to add 5 more years!  All her family and friends applauded because they believe she will.  Hopefully you will be seeing Ruth around Gloucester this summer enjoying the town and the wonderful folks that live here .Thanks again for your interest in this story.

Ruby and Luke McElhenny Represent! At Disney World

Joey,
Continuing GMG’s world domination, here are Ruby and Luke McElhenny showing off their GMG pride at Disney World this week.
GMG has a crazy talented group of photographers but are any as skilled at cutting off heads, bodies and castles as Ruby and Luke’s dad?

The Therans Represent! at Bodin Gallery

Fred Bodin writes-

Californians Peter Theran, VMD and his daughter Michelle Major-Theran, MD represent at Bodin Historic Photo gallery last night. They and 22 relatives are in Gloucester for an Easter family reunion, staying at the Hovey House. They absolutely love Gloucester. I thought Peter looked familiar, and in talking it came out that he worked for Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston from 1961 to 1984, retiring as a vice president. Early in my freelance career, I took the annual hospital staff photo (including Peter during his tenure), and continued to do so for almost 30 years. It’s a small world!

Karen Pischke Represents! At the Cherry Blossom Festival In Japan

Hey Joey-
SAKURA is in full Bloom in Japan! A year ago my elderly mother wondered why
I had to go to Kyoto, Japan for Sakura (Cherry Blossom Festival,) since
‘D.C. has beautiful Cherry Blossoms.’ I told her, because D.C. does not have
my Reiki teacher, Inamoto Sensei. Despite the disaster      in Japan, we
felt it important to continue our trip as planned in support of the Japanese
people. And Hyakuten assured us- "Kyoto is safe. You should come." And so,
3/30/11 we flew. One year ago today was our first full day in Kyoto! It
felt(and still feels!) surreal to be there. While there I also represented
GMG! You can find photos from this journey on Facebook Pages- Dreamtime
Wellness, Komyo Reiki Kai/New England and Komyo Reiki Kai Boston. And now,
Hyakuten will be coming to Boston/New England for the 1st time this October!
Hope you get a chance to meet him! Enjoy the photos. Note: Before the trip
and upon my return, we have organized fund raisers for Japan for continued
support at our monthly Reiki Clinic and Meditation Events. The gentleman in
the picture at the food stand kept saying- "Sank you. Sank you vely much."
The Japanese people we met were most grateful we were there, and Japanese
people still need our support! Thanks Joe! For all that you do! It ‘ripples
out’ to many!!    Karen Pischke, Dreamtime Wellness

Peace, love, and light,  Karen

Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Beeman School

Wizard of Oz at Beeman School April 11 and April 12

The Beeman Elementary School Chorus presents The Wizard of Oz on Wednesday, April 11 and Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 7:00PM at Beeman School, 138 Cherry Street, Gloucester. All tickets for the production are $5.00 each and will be sold at the door the night of the performance.
The Wizard of Oz tells the story of Dorothy Gale from Kansas and her little dog Toto who is swept away to a magical land in a tornado and embarks on a quest to see the Wizard so he can help her return home. On her journey she meets three friends: the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion who travel to Oz with her. Each friend has their own special request of the Wizard. On her exciting journey Dorothy and her companions meet the Good Witch and the happy residents of Munchkin Land led by their Mayor as well as facing challenges from the Wicked Witch of the West, her army of soldiers and the flying monkeys. This endearing classic story celebrates friendship, inner strength, and the true meaning of home. The production features the classic songs: Follow The Yellow Brick Road, Ding Dong the Witch is Dead, If I Only Had a Brain, If I Were the King of the Forest and Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
The production features 25 fourth and fifth grade Beeman students and is directed by Beeman Music teacher Beth Goldberg and Gloucester Stage Youth Acting Workshop director and actress Heidi Dallin. Dallin was brought on board by the Gloucester Education Foundation initiative to support and enhance elementary school theatre by partnering teachers with theatre professionals.
