Hey Joey,
Here is a picture from the Craft Beer Brew Fest. We are with Tom Ryan “First Mate O’Sails” from Cape Ann Brewing Company.
Rob & Laura
USA came back from being down 2 nil to tie it up against Slovenia. Remy’s Bar and Grill goes wild!!! Then a hard fought goal goes through and they score to go up 3-2 with only a few minutes to play. But somehow the psycho referee hallucinates an off-side and pulls the goal back. The USA player in replay is so wrapped up by a Slovenia player it isn’t funny. And the Slovenia player is hugging him while his back is to the goal. No off-sides!
Still, a 2-2 tie against Slovenia is good stuff. Remy’s Bar and Grill right on Boylston Street behind Fenway Park. All the sliders are open on this beautiful day. The ten foot TV screens are crystal clear. A better view than the referee gets, that’s for sure. Tall icy Bloody Marys on a Friday morning is a good start to the weekend.
Walking on Main Street, a sign in the window of the slim, vacant storefront between Green Life and Common Crow Natural Market announces some action. A new business! To Go Common Crow, a lunch and drink spot will be opening this summer. Thank you to Lynne for my exclusive, after-hours interview and menu sneak-peak!

In the tradition of GoodMorningGloucester, of photography the food we eat, I present you my lunch at Sailor Stan’s in Rocky Neck. A simple lunch clam chowder and a tuna fish sandwich. The chowder was EXCELLENT, lots of clams, and a light broth, just the way I like it. The atmosphere and serve was great. I also met some lovely ladies who welcomed their picture taken, from Colorado, and some locals who also enjoy eating at Sailor Stan’s.
It was a great lunch eating and reading the latest Cape Ann Magazine’s Summer Guide.
Let Your Boy Joey Explain it For You The Best Way I Know How- Through Pictures and Video
Heather Atwood has been looking for a lead for her upcoming story which you will be able to read in her Wednesday Column in The Gloucester Daily Times. So to help her sound like she somewhat knows what she’s talking about I was digging through the archives and found these posts from 2008 and sooner that many of our readers probably missed but are essential if you want to understand how fresh fish is distributed in Gloucester in modern times
In the Boston Globe’s Caffeine Poll in which they ask the question Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks they omit a hugely important category (well to me it is anyway)-THE INDEPENDENT COFFEE SHOPS!
Click the map for the Boston Globe Poll-
Personally I prefer Starbucks over Dunkin Donuts as I find DD to be weak and the people rarely make it the way I want it at DD and every once in a while I get one that tastes like burnt plastic. But over both of those choices I would take The Lone Gull, Cape Ann Coffee or Pleasant St Tea and Coffee Company.
To leave the independent coffee shop out of the options for the poll I feel the poll is hugely flawed.
What about you? I’ll add the right poll in here-
