Linda rae Castagna Has Some Nice Things To Say

Good morning, Gloucester, literally.  We are visiting once again from Milford, New Jersey.  Do you have any idea how difficult it is to see your excellent website every day when we are 5 plus hours away?  To see your plates of food, to drool, and not be satisfied.  Really, we can’t hop in the car just for breakfast or lunch, and then back home.  So when we do visit, we delight in visiting the restaurants that you have blessed with your pictures.  I would like to add one.  My husband loved his seafood dish from Passports yesterday.
I am also adding a picture I took with my 4g iPhone (absolutely love Apple products, of which I have many).  We watched as it turned from grey and dreary to the sun shining through and changing the mood of the day.
Thank you for your wonderful website.  An amazing amount of work, I know.  Blessings,
Linda rae and Rob

First Look- Minglewood Tavern At Lat 43 Under Construction

Brian gave me a tour of the completely redesigned Minglewood Tavern (yes you heard the new name here first) at Latitude 43.

There are a ton of new features including the wood fired oven and new center bar being built out of recovered wood by the folks at Walker Creek.

Video coming later

Ever Wonder What The Guts Of An Espresso Machine Look Like?

Well wonder no more.

While eating breakfast at Sugar Mag’s the service guy was pulling the machine apart.  Of course your boy Joey whipped it out (the camera that is) and snapped a shot for you.

I guess there really is something to the high price tags on these machines.  There are some serious parts in there behind all the polish.

ZombieBooth 3D

Haven’t been posting so much since I’ve been getting ready for Halloween. To really get a good zombie look going, I didn’t want fresh dead, I decided to bury myself in the back yard mulch pile for three weeks.

How do I look?

For 99 cents and an iPhone you too can become a zombie after downloading ZombieBooth 3D. Extremely simple to use. It can take a photo from your photo library or better to snap a new head shot with eyes open, mouth closed and if long hair tie it back.

And make sure to shake your zombie. By shaking the phone you go from fresh dead to opaque eyes then they fall out. (About ten levels of zombification.) My eyes have been plucked already by a hungry homie.  My only disappointment is it has a difficult time with dogs. Stella ended up with a small zombie poking out of her ear. I zombified my entire lab in ten minutes. It transforms even the sweetest person and it really shows the evil lurking in their soul. But everyone has to eat and zombies have to eat. A lot.

But wait, there’s more. Tweet it, Facebook it, and the best part, drag your finger across the screen. The zombie intently follows the finger and tries to eat it given the chance. My little movie is following my finger and takes a nip.

Just search in iPhone apps for “zombiebooth”. There are hundreds of Zombie apps but this one makes for the freshest zombies. Make sure it is ZombieBooth 3D. Accept no imitators.

And if you see a seagull coughing up some eyeballs bring them by Sailor Stan’s on Saturday morning so I can read the menu. Doesn’t Passports have a Braille menu? I might have to go there.

Boy, the things I do for GMG …

Sunny D and Rum Call Out To Restaurants

Once new GMG contributor Patrick Ryan turned me on to this video my life hasn’t been the same since.

The quest for Sunny D and rum was never quite fulfilled Saturday night.  We were shut out at Walgreens (no Sunny D) and Market Basket was closed up tighter than a frog’s ass when we swung by.

So here’s the deal-

The first local bar that offers to stock Sunny D and Rum for one night in an email to goodmorninggloucester@yahoo.com will get Mr Patrick Ryan,The Rabbit and I to come by and do a full on GMG feature on your joint.

We will come in with the cameras and video and take pics of your food for all of the 12-20,000 daily GMG readers to see.

It’s that simple.

Azorean Restaurant

The Azorean Restaurant is delicious with authentic Portuguese and Azorean dishes! I especially love the tapas tower with 6 dishes for $30. Pictured is the  garlicky shrimp, salted cod cakes, red pepper boiled potatoes, fish-stuffed mushrooms, calamari, and Molho Vilao haddock.

Restaurant Week-Windward Grille

Last night, due to lack of grocery shopping, we decided to celebrate restaurant week and try a restaurant we haven’t yet tried. We decided on the Windward Grille in Essex.

The service was great, they have a very friendly staff, they had a lot of options on the restaurant week menu as well as their regular menu, and the portions where incredible.  I came home with lots of leftovers and had to put on elastic waist sweatpants.

Today is the last day for restaurant week, but some restaurants may be extending it. The Windward Grille is  extending their Restaurant Week menu for an additional week.  If you know of any others doing the same post it in the comments.

Here’s my lovely camera phone shots of stuffed mushrooms and Filet with Stuffed shrimp (half eaten of course).
