8tSpmonsgloiredt · [340p – 2/18/21] While there may be a period of light snow early this evening, the ‘main area’ of light snow arrives after midnight. “Steadiest snow” will be during tomorrow afternoon. Very difficult for this pace of snow to cover the roads this time of year. Hence, driving should not be a major issue tomorrow on main roads.* This is one of those snowfalls where you do several measurements during the day tomorrow (And clean off the surface each time!) to get an accurate number. Not that it’s a lot of snow but because of the loss from solar radiation and higher sun angle during the day.

Went over to Marshalls Farm Stand on Wednesday to take a look at the new metal Alpaca made by the talented artist Chris Francis. I love visiting my friends the alpacas when over there. These gentle animals are fun and so cute. Also do not forget the goats, Ben and Jerry.

I came across this interesting article in the Travel/News section of National Geographic online. I had not heard a potential explanation for the gorgeous light we always seem to enjoy here, so thanks Oliver Barker for the insight! Click here for link. When we get called to podcast, off we go. Last Tuesday we live-streamed from Mom’s Kitchen on Commercial Street. Cozy setting, varied menu, friendly service are hallmarks for Mom’s. I hope you saw us there! I just had to share a few pics of my yummy BLT and surroundings. Such a gem right here in Gloucester!

Reminder: today’s girls hockey game is an “away” game, only approved Marblehead spectators permitted. Girls Varsity Ice Hockey vs @MHSMagicians_AD will be live streamed on: Cape Ann Live! Facebook page https://facebook.com/groups/CapeAnnLive…
We love quick “stay cations” at the Cape Ann Motor Inn and it’s perfect beachfront location at the end of Long Beach. Walking by the other day made me miss summer more. Looking forward to booking a quick trip as soon as beach weather is upon us…. although it is beautiful any time of year.
We took a ride to Ipswich River Craft to take a peek behind the curtain, which Pamela was happy to provide. It’s pretty fascinating to see nautical signs at all steps in the creation process. We ordered our own car magnets and will await their arrival! Thanks, Pamela for the gracious tour. Check out the website for additional pictures and ideas.
Join environmental attorney, diver and photographer Michael Carvalho, for a Live Zoom presentation about his arctic exhibition to Antarctica in 2018, “Antarctica: Lessons From the Bottom of the World,” on Saturday, February 20 from 2 to 4:00 p.m. Registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link. Register here.
Illustrated by his breathtaking photography he will discuss the developments in Antarctica, the rising sea levels and its impact locally. According to experts, temperatures in the Antarctic region are rising due to “heat-trapping gas pollution,” which has serious global consequences. Gloucester, like all coastal regions, is vulnerable to increasingly extreme weather.
Since obtaining his open water scuba certification in 1978 in Rockport, Carvalho has completed more than 2,500 dives on six continents.
Carvalho is the former chairman of the board of directors for the National Council for Science and the Environment. In 2019, he represented the United Nations Environment Program for…
