The stands were brought back and moved into place atop the improved footing at New Balance Newell Stadium. Maybe the bleachers will be ready later this week. It’s great to see it coming back together.

Gloucester Smiles with Sally and Joe

A special Gloucester Smiles.

This delightful couple from New Jersey drove up to meet family and friends (and me)  in New England.  One of their favorite places was Gloucester where they had a family reunion in the house by the Good Harbor Beach bridge.  They also mentioned that  her niece who lives in Texas , and is also a Fan of the Blog, was a caretaker at the house on 24 Beach Road.

It was a special treat to meet Sally and Joe and enjoyed the batch of cookies that they gave me, which I promised to share with Joey at the dock.

Thank you for the email and  being so kind and giving  me a brighter Gloucester Smile.

Gloucester Area Astronomy Club Halloween Meeting Friday Oct 12

Cape Ann Community

At our Friday night October 12 GAAC meeting we are pleased to have with us Phil Orbanes, the North Shore’s preeminent astrophotographer, with “Tales from the Cosmic Dark Side,” a Halloween-themed presentation illustrated with Phil’s excellent photos, touching on all sorts of dark objects — Dark Nebulae (and Bok Globules), Molecular Clouds,  Integrated Flux Nebula, Dark (“Rogue”) Planets, “Dark Matter” and “Dark Energy.” Calling on examples from the Pipe nebula through the possible eventual heat-death of the universe, Phil will elucidate the universe of dark phenomena all around us.

We’ll see you there, 8:00 pm at the Lanesville Community Center, 8 Vulcan St in Lanesville. There is no cost, and all are welcome. There will be goodies of every stripe, friends old and new, and just a generally good time to be had by all.

For more information on the club you can check out the website, the Facebook page, and follow us…
