And hello dear Friends of the Library.

The bright light in this past dreary April was seeing many of you. We connected when you worked and shopped at the Book Sale, and we celebrated those of you who volunteer for the RPL and FOL at our Appreciation Reception. It always feels good to link with our members and experience the common bond of our commitment to our extraordinary library.
As an organization, we have achieved some notable successes already this spring. We made a positive difference in advocating for library funding, and we raised $3,000+ for library programming through our Spring Book Sale. Behind the scenes, your FOL Board is facilitating support for library staff education, launching a book-donation drive, designing a membership drive, organizing a Motif #1 Day mini-sale of books, CDs, and DVDs, planning a July Book Sale from 7/19-7/22, and arranging our Annual Meeting with a special performance by Sheryl Faye as Abigail Adams. (We heard great reviews of Sheryl as Eleanor Roosevelt — we are bringing her back by popular demand!)

As you can see, your Friends’ Board has ambitious goals and a busy schedule. You are part of it all. Actually, you are the most important part of it all! Membership is our financial foundation, and your active participation makes our work possible.
Here are dates to note. Mark your calendars, and please contact us if you can help with these coming events. One thing we can all do is spread the news about our mission and activities and encourage others to join us as Friends of the Rockport Library.
