I'm Marty Luster, a retired attorney and politician. In 2010 my wife, mother-in-law, dog and I relocated from Central NY to Gloucester. I hope my photographs and poetry(?) reflect my love for this place and her people. Marty, (Thank You)!!
Local Mom & Pops type stores oh boy!
You captured my heart here, a minute from the house and our hangout for store then, penny candy, baseball cards, comics, chips (OWL), Root Beer Yellow & clear bottles (Learners?), cokes, ding dongs, all kinds of goodies and (Fred and May Sarri then) he carved seagulls in his spare time from drift wood along the shore. He instilled in us rascals respect, discipline, honesty, being there for other’s compassion-dignity his golden rule.
I am so happy to see that this building and location is a hit the spirit is strong there! Couple of doors up mail your letter. I lived directly across from the current package store in my days 50’s – 60’s. And yes the big store was Kenny’s across from tucker street. Also had McPhersons growing up toward Andrews corner imagine that three stores in Lanesville, barber, beauty store, of course Antiques.
🙂 Dave & Kim 🙂
