Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall–The Opening Ceremony

The Crowd, The Speeches, The Families, The Memories, You can see it all in everyone’s faces.  Take time and walk the wall, and remember.

You know, I used to respect “The Trustees”  That was until they came out with this doozy on Instagram this morning.  Trying to pass off this obvious well trained assassin off as cute and cuddly.

Can no one else see the crazy in this dogs eyes?  That look that screams “Sure buddy just let your guard down for one split second.  That’s when I’ll bite your face off.”

Trustees, we all know about all the fantastic work you do preserving special places and stuff but be better than this, k?

Goddamn dog propaganda campaign all up in my grill at 6:46 in the morning.  Not on my watch buddy.

Cute and cuddly my ass.

We live in America right? Not for nothin…..

Last time I checked we drove on the right side of the road in this country right?

So why is it when I’m driving down a narrow street and the person coming towards me is hugged all the way to their left and then they have to swerve so they don’t hit ME head on?  AND I get a dirty look like I did something wrong?

As Joey C says:

This Weekend at the North Shore Arts Association

NORTH SHORE ARTS ASSOCIATION CELEBRATES SPECIAL “A FORTY YEAR COLLABORATION” EXHIBIT SHOWCASING THE WORK OF HUSBAND AND WIFE TEAM, ARTISTS, NELLA AND STEVE LUSH.  IN  EXHIBITION Sunday, June 28 – Saturday, July 25.   RECEPTION Sunday, July 12, 2 – 4 pm.   ALL ARE INVITED.  OPEN AND FREE TO THE PUBLIC.

“I don’t look for inspiration.  Inspiration comes from hard work,” says Nella Lush, whose Italian heritage of family artists, musicians and poets living and working near the Adriatic Sea, has informed her artistic career.

Working on several canvases at once, developing the imagery through a process of surface changes, she constantly explores human history which becomes for her a spiritual and intimate journey.   Drawing on her intuition and experience she never follows a formula.  She brings together the alchemy of materials, classical forms and the appearance of centuries of aging in all of her work, whether it is an abstract, a fresco, a floral, figurative or marine.

Working in series mainly with oils, cold wax, often with marble dust, Nella plumbs the depths of exhilaration, angst and pure joy in the human experience.   Her vibrant visual energy radiates from the canvas stirring our souls to come alive.

Nella is a Signature Member of the American Society of Marine Artists and President of the National Association of Women Artists, MA chapter .  A juried member of both the North Shore Arts Association and the Rockport Art Association, her work is held in many private collections around the country.

Steve Lush’s artistic talent energizes his stunning marine art for which he has won many awards including the Winslow Homer Special Merit Award, and two Museum Purchase Awards from Mystic Seaport for their Annual International Maritime Art exhibition.  His watercolors have been included in every annual international and regional exhibition of the New England Watercolor Society since 2008, and Steve is a contributing artist with the Coast Guard Art Program.  His watercolors are on continuous exhibit at various Coast Guard venues.

Steve shares, “My art has been influenced by my experiences at sea, and the ports I’ve visited.  Model shipbuilding has influenced my eye for form while literature of the sea has influenced my taste for individuality.  I try to convey emotion, understated activity and contrasting light in my work.”  Steve will be including work using oil and cold wax on canvas in this exhibition.

NORTH SHORE ARTS ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES AWARD WINNING CAPE ANN ARTIST, CAROLE LOIACONO, SOLO SHOW, “Reflections of Cape Ann”,  Thursday July 2 – Saturday, July 25, Reception Sunday, July 12, 2 – 4pm.

Carole Loiacono declares, “I’m always in love with Cape Ann!”  She is an award winning plein air painter who has fulfilled her dream of living, teaching and painting on Cape Ann for the last 30 years, also following the sun to paint in Tarpon Springs, Florida in the winter months.

Carole works in watercolor, acrylic, pastel, pencil, pen & ink and oils, and can often be seen painting on site throughout Cape Ann and Tarpon Springs.  She likes to absorb the feeling of the moment.  “Sometimes,” she says, “it takes me in a weird direction which leads me to start with a color I don’t normally use, and let the painting evolve from there.”  Often described as a Romantic Impressionist, she likes to exaggerate the moment, the feelings, the experience of the day, pushing the envelope through color and texture.  “I’m trying to be a conduit through the painting to convey to the viewer the essence of the moment by experiencing the energy of the scene.  If I am able to express some of the feelings of excitement and joy that I experience while painting the beauty of Cape Ann, then I feel I have created a memorable piece of artwork.”

Loiacono earned a B.S. in Art Education from Pratt Institute and has taught art classes in the New York and Long Island school districts.  In addition to numerous art show awards she was commissioned to create a 20 panel acrylic series and a 15 panel acrylic series for the Rockland Psychiatric Center in Orangeburg, New York.

Dave says,

Our post-dramatic Forth of July Edema Series continues this Thursday with the crash-landing of Mr. Gordon “Sax” Beadle on our shores. If I gotta tell you who he is, you’ve been in an ocarina-induced coma. So, wake up! An icon for Yahooism, he’ll be arriving with his eye sockets red glare and his sax bombs bursting in air. The joint will be jumpin’! Who needs fireworks!
Not only that, but he’ll be bringing along that bubbling two-fisted master of Qatar, Mr. Mike DiBari. A great match. Also, former RFB drummmbler, Mr. Ephraim Lowell will be propelling his arms in a desperate attempt to make sense of the whole thing. I’ll be there, too, in a few pieces, but serviceable. You don’t want to miss this! Showtime 8:30.

MCGEARY IS CERTIFIED FOR MAYORAL BALLOT

City Council President Paul McGeary is the first mayoral candidate to have submitted enough voters’ signatures to qualify to be on the ballot for the 2015 municipal elections.

In a letter sent to McGeary and dated July 2, Assistant Registrar of Voters Marie Giambanco said that more than 900 signatures had been certified from the nomination papers submitted by the campaign. The signatures of 300 registered voters are required for a candidate’s name to appear on the ballot.

“I am deeply gratified at the effort put in by our volunteers and the support shown for our campaign by the voters of Gloucester,” McGeary said.

“I believe our campaign’s strength is its broad appeal to all voters across the city and the amount of signatures we gathered is a demonstration of that support. I look forward to carrying our message of economic growth, support for education and sound government to the voters in the fall.”

Hey Joey –
Came across this on Lighthouse Beach this morning. At first I thought maybe a Skate, but it has more of a tail, so maybe some sort of Ray. It was easily about 2 feet wide and 3 feet long.
Any idea what it is?

Mom Turkey and her babies /Starknaught Heights from Janet Rice

Hi Joey-I am sending these pictures to you again in the hopes you will post it. Everyone I have told about the two Turkey Moms roosting in my East Gloucester yard every night, protecting their babies under their wings has asked to see it. I had never seen this before-she has six babies-three under each wing! It is fascinating to watch them fly up to the treetops and get “organized” around 7:30 PM each evening. The picture of the other Mom Turkey has the babies facing backwards so I could not count them. They started out with 20 or more between them but have lost a  couple each week. I hope people enjoy seeing this as much as I have! Best-Janet (Rice)
