Africa 01966 USA Revisited

Last fall, Janet and I found a small private park populated by amazing African animal sculptures. I loved that place. Over months of hospitalization recovering from cancer related disabilities, I often thought of seeing "my" special animals again. Today I did, and on foot – I walked 1/2 mile up Phillips Avenue and home again using my rollator (a hybrid walker with four wheels http://whatisarollator.com/) under the watchful eyes of Janet. Not much of a hike for most people, but a milestone for me. I rested for a moment while removing my camera from the bag under the rollator seat and to shoot this photo. Events similar to this happen often, and the satisfaction they impart encourage one to continue down the path to better health.

Join Art Haven for our first week of summer 2014 programming:
Nature Week!
Your kids will get to take advantage of all that Gloucester has to offer through exploration of the local natural world.
With projects like Rock Stacking, Sand Sculptures, Found Objects Collage, Sand Raking, and Beach Mandalas, we will work to give your children an adventure that will help them appreciate the things that make Gloucester so special.
Through hands-on activities and artistic skills training your child will come home with great stories, creative artwork, and new friends and memories to last a lifetime.

Last Summer at Art Haven Summer Programs:

Miss us last summer?

Last year’s nine weeks of summer programs were a huge success.
Our “Summer Passport Program” allowed students to explore the cultures of Mexico, Italy, Kenya, Greece, France, Tahiti, and China, and our partnership with Maritime Gloucester got them learning about culture a little closer to home.
Over the course of the summer we worked with 64 kids, and were able to provide scholarship money for 27 of them – that’s 42%!
We are grateful to our students, their families, and the generous donors who make our programs possible.
Looking forward to summer 2014!

Take advantage of the fun and creative space that Art Haven creates each summer for kids entering grades 1-5!

Our programs run from 9-1 and promote creativity and confidence through hands on learning and collaboration with talented local artists and fun, energetic summer staff.

Your kids can enjoy a reasonably priced summer program that gives flexibility through weekly sign ups. A healthy lunch is provided daily by The Open Door and Project Bread. Take advantage of our flexible pick up time from 1 pm-3 pm while your kids further explore their talents with the skills they learned earlier in the day!

Our summer staff will ensure that each moment is special and that new friendships are made so your child will have a summer adventure they will never forget!

Hi Joey
While on my walk this am I noticed that the cans at Stage Fort have been painted this beautiful color and have these large anchors painted on them. Each anchor has a different hand painted pattern. I love them and would love to be able to let them know how much I love them and thank them for this gift of time. Could you post so that maybe I can find out who these community art angels are.
Have a Wicked Awesome Day, Pauline
