We just got word from Bob Ryan at CATA that, since the Blynman Bridge weight restriction has been lifted, he was able to scramble and get the Stage Fort Park Trolley Shuttle up and running starting on June 21! See the trolley schedule here. This is excellent news for everyone who drives in Gloucester during summer weekends because it means fewer cars — as well as anyone who benefits from tourists coming to Gloucester (which is just about everybody who lives and/or works here as I explain in this post).
Way to go Bob!

Great News!! Thanks for letting everyone know. My boys love riding the trolley and it is so perfect to hop off at the Maritime Center or for an ice cream on Rocky Neck (or now a drink at the Studio). Also, as a Rockport resident with no Gloucester sticker, it is an excellent way to get to Good Harbor Beach.

Nicole, glad you raised the point about getting to the beach without a sticka! CATA’s Bob Ryan has been trying, for years, to get the Good Harbor & Wingaersheek Beach attendants to hand a slip of paper to every driver of a car that comes after the beach is closed (which is almost always by 10am on a nice weekend day) with directions to Stage Fort Park and trolley schedule on it. REMEMBER, parking at Stage Fort Park is FREE if you ride the shuttle!
Let’s hope that program is in place on June 21 😉
