GMG Introduced to the Elephants By local Good Egg Jo-Ann Castano

Hi Joey,

Andy and I are still on our wild journey through Sri Lanka and India.  Pulled out the old GMG travelers sticker here and there along the roads.   I actually wore it on my shirt at this on site location…. what a trip, this ain’t Gloucester.

Elephants don’t forget!

Elephants at the Pinnawela elephant orphanage in Sri Lanka introduced to Good Morning Gloucester Up close a friendly…

I started off wearing my GMG travelers badge because so many elephants to meet and greet.

Pinnawela orphanage is northwest of the town Kegalla, halfways between the capitol Colombo and  the ancient royal residence Kandy in the hills of central Sri Lanka. It was established 1975 by the Sri Lanka Wildlife  department. This 24 acres large elephant orphanage is a also breeding pace for elephants, twenty elephants were  born since 1984, and it has the greatest herd of elephants in captivity in the world.

We headed over there to introduce the elephants to GoodMorningGloucester….. and they are big guys!  Close up of one of the caretakers and some really big guys.

  1. I had the privilege to visit the same orphanage a number of years ago. It was extraordinary. Thanks for the pictures and story.
