This weekend the whole family got out and did some skating at a Birthday party. You forget how fun it is to get out and skate. Here are some local places to skate, get equipment or catch a hockey game.
Where To Skate:
- Talbot Rink – Open Skating Saturday & Sunday 2- 4 for 5$
- Cape Ann Skating Club – Learn to Skate Programs – I have heard folks rave about this program at Talbot & Johnson Rink
- Cape Ann Youth Hockey -New session of Learn to Skate, Cape Ann Cross Ice & In House teams starting this weekend at Talbot Rink. Programs for all abilities ā boys & girls ā ages 3 to 14.
- North Shore Kids Skating List – The source for places to skate locally – indoor and outdoor
Where to get equipment:
- Pure Hockey – Danvers
- Build your own rink – These are popping up everywhere. I even saw Ipswich brewery truck pulled up offering brews at someones house.
Check out a Hockey Game:
- Womens Professional Hockey – Boston – I would love to take my girls to one of these games
- College Hockey – Too many to mention including Salem St, Lowell, Merrimack College, BC, BU, Harvard, Northeastern. Go BC!. We went to Merrimack and the kids had a blast.
- Manchester (NH) Monarchs – Great for kids!
- Gloucester High Fishermen
- Get Bruins Tix on Craigslist (I still can’t believe how much it cost to take a family to a hockey game!)
A few pics of the fam out on the ice. I even got my soon to be 2 year old out there.

Is this what you do when you’re not taking them to Irish pubs and teaching them how to do kegstands?
Great post. Very informative!

What a neat way to teach the very little ones how to stand on skate blades.
