I would not belong to any club that would have me as a member. Julius Henry “Groucho” Marx (1890-1977) Groucho’s comedy career spanned vaudeville, radio, film and later television. He made 26 movies, half of them with his brothers, Harpo, Chico, Gummo, and Zeppo. Self deprecating and self-taught, he was a voracious reader who said his greatest achievement was to have one of his books listed as a cultural treasure by the Library of Congress. His many witticisms range from the sublime to the ridiculous, often within a single quote: “Outside of a dog, man’s best friend is a book. Inside of a dog, it’s too dark to read.” Greg Bover |
