Spotted Lobster

Mark Ring caught this spotted lobster yesterday.  We rarely get them. Probably 2-3 a year with this type of markings.  Less often than a blue one or albino one.  If anyone wants to come take a peek at it or photograph it I’ll leave it in the tank through the weekend.  Bring the kids down, they love this kind of stuff and I’ll even throw in a demonstration on how you can tell the difference between a male and female lobster.  You might even get to see a lobster boat get unloaded.

You can view this slide show of unusual lobsters that I’ve photographed over many years here at our dock in Gloucester Ma, by clicking this text

The staging has been taken down to reveal this cinderblock wall.  That exposed brick behind there will be memorialized only in these photos.

Downtown Construction Update 4/20/09

Here’s the latest installment of teh construction project taking place Downtown at the site of the formers Gray’s Hardware building.  For the slideshow of the progress to date click this text

It looks like the foundation has been poured and now some holes have been dug to pour footings for supports in the middle of the building.

Downtown Construction- Foundation Poured

The Foundation has been poured.  Framing should begin soon.  Anyone know what the plans are for the space of the former Grey’s Hardware store?

Downtown Construction Update

Last week the footings were poured and now the rebar is in place for the pouring of the foundation.

Note where I placed the arrows on the curled over rebar.  Once the cement is poured, it will form and harden around the curved rebar.  This will give the foundation added strength and lock it all together nicely.

When pouring foundation or forms with rebar it ups the structural integrity of the foundation exponentially.

Andiamos Boomin Shroomin Sub

Got lunch for the family at Andiamos day before yesterday.  Here is a Boomin Shroomin sub.  I wouldn’t ordinarily order this but Jeff the owner recommended it to me-  Marinated mushrooms, chicken cutlets, spinach, garlic mayo and provolone.  It was outstanding.  I’ve yet to have a bad dish from Andiamos.  They ALWAYS impress me with the quality and freshness of the ingredients, portions, taste and value.

While I like to eat everywhere around town I do have to say that they are doing an OUTSTANDING job and I highly highly recommend it.  If you haven’t already, give them a shot and mention that you heard about them here.

You will not be disappointed.

Passports Cheese Steak Sub With Joey Fries

So I swung by Passports the other day for lunch and ordered up a cheesesteak sub.  They serve them on soft Virgilio’s rolls and are delicious.   Anyway, Julie asked me if I’d like fries with that and of course I said yes.  Now when she goes over to the kitchen to tell Jeremy the chef my order she says “Joey will have a cheesesteak with “Joey Fries”.
You see I have them prepare my hand cut fries a special way- Sliced thinly and cooked well to get them nice and crispy and then with lots of salt.
You can see what Passports “Joey Fries” look like in the pic below.
