These two ads appeared side by side in yesterday’s Gloucester Daily Times. National Geographic is looking for new tuna boats, captains and crew who are tough and outgoing. We’ve got plenty of fishermen just like that here. http://www.WickedTunaCasting@gmail.com The Seaport Grille menu, left, lists their weekly specials. My favorite is the lobster roll with fries (slaw can be substituted). It contains the meat of one lobster served in a fresh Virgillio’s roll and is priced at $9.95. Seaport also has the best view of Gloucester’s “working harbor.”While dining at the Seaport Grille one night, I saw a huge tuna being offloaded across the channel under the movie lights (right). It’s great to live here. http://www.cruiseportgloucester.com

The season has started. Summer music venues are opening up and Seaport Grill is having music on Tuesday starting at 6pm (plenty early to bring the kids). Let’s show them some support and maybe they’ll make live music a regular thing!
Steve Caraway is Allen’s guest on Local Music Seen with Allen Estes this week, with his new show premiering tomorrow (WED) at 6:3o pm on Cape Ann TV Channel 12.
Steve talks about how he got started in the music business and reveals some songwriting secrets during a lively conversation with Allen. It’s not easy making a living as a musician and Steve will give you some tips on how to do it well. Plus you’ll get to hear one of Allen’s most popular sad songs and three gems from Steve Caraway. Here’s one of them:
You can catch both Allen & Steve tonight (TUESDAY). Allen is at Jalepenos at 7 with Brown, Mattacks & Ginandes, and Steve hosts the open mic at the Dog Bar at 9.
Weather forecasters call it a heatwave around here when it’s over 90 °F (32.2 °C) for three days in a row.
For the past 3 days, we’ve had good music starting early enough to take the kids out, so I’m declaring it a kid-friendly-music wave.
Tonight you can take the kids to see the Honky Tonk Women of Gloucester at Seaport Grille as early as 6pm. And there’s plenty more later (see schedule here) if you want to keep them up late, or you’ve got a sitter, or you don’t have kids. One of our favorites, Pete Lindberg, is at the Dog Bar at 9. Here’s a video of Pete at Celebrate Gloucester 2010:
And here’s an early 60’s heatwave classic to remind us where the inspiration for much of the music we love today comes from:
I missed Joan Osborne with Paula Cole @ Shalin Liu back in October. Did she sing this? She does an excellent version. Check this out:

We’ve been invited back to SEAPORT GRILLE Wednesday, 11/28 starting at 5pm on Roger’s St., one of Gloucester’s most popular waterfront restaurants. Please come enjoy the show and maybe do a bit of local holiday shopping afterwards. Honky Tonk Women have added many new songs most of which are requested favorites and we have launched our first website. We hope to entertain you soon.

This isn’t really happening because as we all know Marine Industrial Activity and Non-Marine Industrial Activity Can’t Co-exist. You can’t have all this marine industrial activity and loud cranes operating right in front of the area where people are eating their lunch on an open air deck. That’s just preposterous!!!
What’s Next? Dogs and Cats Living Together?
From Ghostbusters-
Dr. Peter Venkman: This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions. Mayor: What do you mean, “biblical”? Dr Ray Stantz: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath of God type stuff. Dr. Peter Venkman: Exactly. Dr Ray Stantz: Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Dr. Egon Spengler: Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes… Winston Zeddemore: The dead rising from the grave! Dr. Peter Venkman: Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… mass hysteria! Mayor: All right, all right! I get the point!

BTW, that Fishing boat in the left of the frame? Must have also been photoshopped, you can’t have fishing oats tied up at places where there are open air-restaurants. No-way- No how! Photoshopped or mirage- you make the call.

Here’s the cruise ship that pulled into port Tuesday. It looked kinda old by today’s cruise ship standards, but well maintained (at least from the outside).
Check out those lobsters! We enjoyed our lobster feast last night at the Seaport Grille. I had the steamed and Mike enjoyed the stuffed. He really loved the stuffing, lots of whole shrimp and scallops in buttery goodness.
The Seaport Grille celebrates Lobster Fest on Wednesday nights this Summer. Check out the amazing prices on their lobster dinners!
$9.95 One Steamed Lobster
$15.95 Twin Steamed Lobster $18.95 Baked Stuffed Lobster $22.95 Twin Baked Stuffed Lobster All served with corn on the cob and cole slaw!
