Rainbow over Good Harbor

good harbor beach rainbow after sandy

A rainbow appeared for a brief moment over Good Harbor Beach this afternoon. The surf is still crashing, but it looks like GHB held up pretty well to the storm.

Lots of people were out walking their dogs and enjoying some outside time after being cooped up because of Sandy.

Block Party rainbow; camera woes

Just at sunset during the latest block party, there was a mild rain shower, and this glorious rainbow appeared.  I managed to snap a shot, despite the fact that my camera was staring to malfunction.

This one came out OK, but many of my photos have started to be underexposed or just plain black  (despite being on the right settings, even in the automatic mode).  I need to either repair or replace the camera… Anybody know of a place nearby where I can get a Sony camera repaired? It’s not under warrantee anymore (it’s a year and a half old, and – silly me – I didn’t get an extended warrantee), so Sony will charge me a flat fee of $250 to repair it. Buying a brand new camera body of the same kind would cost $500.  I’m torn between repairing it – it’s a great camera! – and upgrading to a new model…

Yesterday’s sunrise with a rainbow in the west

These photos were taken at around 5:35-5:45AM yesterday, from the room of the rectory at St. Ann’s Church (Holy Family Parish).  I should have shot a panorama that included both the sunrise and the rainbow, but it was too early for my brain to think that clearly…

Chasing Rainbows (and Storm Clouds)

The beautiful double rainbow that Bill and Paul captured late Saturday afternoon had faded, but I did see this on my way home.

Rainbow over Bass Rocks

The sky was so gorgeous I next stopped at Smith’s Cove to catch the end of the setting sun. The hues quickly changed from vivid yellow-orange to orange-violet-pink.

Rose window of St. John's Episcopal Church

Beyond a doubt, one of the most beautiful depictions of this kind and theme I’ve ever seen.  More info about the windows in this series of my posts is available on the church’s website.

Rainbow Leading To Lobster Traps At The Dock

Let’s hope the lobsters are led to these traps in much the same way once lobster season gets under way and these traps hit the water.
