Sold Out Again- Thank You GMG Community
Well the first batch of 100 sold out in three days so I reordered 50 and am keeping 10 for myself. I’m not going to take any more orders but I have a few (6 or so) that I’ll keep for folks if they want to pick them up here at the dock- first come first served.
TO CLARIFY ALL OF THE DVD’s are THE SAME none of them in the first or second batch have Saturday Greasy Pole or The Why I Love Gloucester Interviews. If I order another batch the new batch won’t have those chapters in the either.
If enough people write in on the comments on this post that they wanted to buy some I’ll consider putting in an order for another 50.
I want to thank all the folks that ordered them and despite my mess up of sending in the wrong master copy to the duplicator and the DVD missing those two chapters (out of 21) we actually sold a record number yesterday and after contacting some folks about the mess up we didn’t have a single person cancel their order.
I still believe that this DVD is unlike anything ever produced that captures so much of the essence of Gloucester despite it missing the Saturday Greasy Pole (it still has the Friday 2011 Greasy Pole).
Here is a preview of the opening chapter featuring background music from Dan King put to a slide show of my favorite Gloucester at Dawn Photos in widescreen format-
I’m taking the order form down as well so if you didn’t order one you can let me know that you intended to and I may place another order if there is enough interest on Monday.

Here’s the details from yesterday:
The DVD is still awesome but thought I should let people know about it. If the reason you bought one was because out of the 21 Chapters those two were critical to your decision to purchase one I will issue you a refund before I ship them.
They look great and I’m thrilled with the results of how they play and Beth Swan’s cover arrangement, I just must have slipped one of the test DVD’s into the envelope when it went to the duplication company. It still has the Friday Greasy Pole, the mutant lobsters, the Novenas, The Gloucester at Dawn Video with Dan King’s music to it, The Good Harbor Zen videos, Down in The Fish Hold of The Captain Domenic, and more.
Just thought I’d let y’all know before I ship them though in case that was why you bought one.

I’ll be writing a check out for $132 for the Greasy Pole rebuilding fund. We ordered 150 total DVD’s, I’m keeping 10 for myself and 8 DVD’s were given as extras when people ordered 5 and got one free and one person who ordered 10 and got two free and I assume the 6 extra DVD’s that are unsold will sell so I added them into the total as if they were sold and paid for.
SOLD OUT! GMG This Is Gloucester DVD SOLD OUT!

Well it only took 3 days but we sold out of them- all 100 DVDs. I’ll be writing out a check to the Saint Peter’s Fiesta for Rebuilding the Greasy Pole.
I called the company who manufactured the DVD’s and they tell me they can get me another 50 by the end of the week so I went ahead and ordered another 50 of which 10 or so I’ll be keeping for gifts for myself. Thanks a bunch to those of you who bought one not only because I happen to think they are great gifts, but because it is nice to show your support for the labor of love that is GMG. Don’t forget about EJ’s and Sharon’s Calendars, they make nice gifts as well. You can see them here and here
So if you didn’t order one over these past few days then you have another shot at ordering them for holiday presents.
If any local folks that have already paid want to pick up their DVDs they can swing down the dock this morning and get theirs early: 95 East Main Street,Gloucester MA. Just email me goodmorninggloucester@yahoo.com to let me know.
Same deal as last time for the 40 we have left to sell and will be coming in at the end of the week-
I ordered 100 DVDs and am so very pleased with the way they came out. To say with the investment in time and passion that I haven’t been on pins and needles to see the finished results from the DVD company I’d be lying but I couldn’t be happier or prouder. So much thanks goes out to Beth Swan for the uber-professional design work , Dan King for the background music for the Gloucester at Dawn Chapter, Adam Bolansky and Sam Hartson’s footage on the Saturday Greasy Pole video.
I’ll be donating 5% of the sales to The Greasy Pole Rebuilding Fund. Thanks to everyone who has ordered some. I really think they are going to make perfect perfect no-brainer holiday gifts for people that love Gloucester. With 21 chapters of Gloucester Love there’s something in there for everyone.
Watch the video to see The Bean unveil the shipment of DVD’s and us test out the first one out of the box!
Here it is, the order form click to get on the list-
Here is a low res version Beth Swan designed DVD jacket. Pretty snazzy don’t you think?
and here is the artwork for the DVD-
The magenta colors won’t be there, it’s only there for the art department when they press them.
I can’t help but think that this will be an easy peasy Christmas gift decision for people who love Gloucester and what we do here on GMG.
The goal was to make a DVD which you could show people and blow them away with stuff that they have never seen before. Especially cool are the mutant lobster and marine life videos on the larger screen.
As a Christmas or Hanukah present it’s a no-brainer. Small size, easy wrapping, totally unique, totally Gloucester, easy shipping, perfect price point- $20.
This will be the perfect gift to have a couple wrapped and in the front hall closet for when those people stop buy with a present for you but you didn’t think to get them one- you have a couple Good Morning Gloucester DVDs all wrapped up in the closet and ready to go!
No brainer, right?
They will cost $20 for 1 Buy 5 and get 1 free, buy 10 and get two free.
Huge thanks to Dan King for the background music for the DVD menu and The Joey C’s Gloucester at Dawn Slideshow, Adam Bolonsky and Sam Hartson’s Greasy Pole Footage and Beth Swan for Designing The DVD Artwork.
I’ll be donating 5% of the proceeds from the sale of this DVD to The Saint Peter’s Fiesta to rebuild the Greasy Pole.

Dwight Hebert Represents! In Roma
Dwight writes-
GMG was once again a witness to the sites and sounds of Europe, this time we are in Roma. A wonderful city, with warm people who send their love and affection to the folks on Cape Ann. Next on the agenda (tonight)…the closing ceremonies for the Barcelona (Spain, if in question) fire festival, aka: La Merce Festival. It features a fireworks and laser show. Monday, we head to Ibiza and then to Formentera.
As always, Dwight Hebert
Anne and Christopher Lewis with Captain Jack Sparrow represent GMG in a mokoro in the Okavango Delta, Botswana
The September GMG Old Cuban Cigar and Folly Cove Rum Sail Aboard The Thomas E Lannon Photos From Dani Lubbers
Video- 2011 September GMG Old Cuban Cigar and Folly Cove Rum Sail Aboard The Thomas E Lannon
Filmed With My Cheapo $79 Kodak Playsport Zx3 and using the Kayalu nClamp.
Some points about taking video-
The more steady you can hold your camera, the more pleasing the resulting video will be. One way to accomplish this is holding your camera very steady. You need to be very conscious of framing your shot properly and keeping the camera steady. the much easier way is to use a tripod, or mount. Using a mount or tripod there is no camera shake and your results will look immeasurably better than if you try to hand hold the camera.
Obviously carrying a huge tripod around can be cumbersome and you all know my feelings on being able to keep your camera gear on you to be able to capture the shots as they happen. So many times a tripod is not going to be the answer.
The manfrotto modopocket which screws right into the universal camera mount and folds flush with the bottom of my camera is my number one camera accessory that I feel can help any photographer achieve much better results, especially with poor light (with good light photography is a snap, you just point and shoot and you don’t have to worry about camera shake because the time the lens will be open is so much shorter).
But for this application I used the kayalu nClamp with the toughbar extension. Literally I screwed the Kodak Playsport Zx3 onto the Toughbar and clamped it onto a bolt that was attached to the mast, framed the shot and pressed record. In this way I could sit back and enjoy the company on the boat and we got a nice video capturing the scene.

Once again I can’t extend enough thanks to Paul Giacalone from Old Cuban Cigar Company, Bobby Ryan of Ryan and Woods distillers and of course The Ellis’ and their crew aboard Gloucester’s most beautiful ship, The Thomas E Lannon.
I never want to miss one of these cigar and rum cruises for the rest of my life. the setting aboard the Lannon with the friendliest crew and my hero Captain Tom Ellis, the company, the spirits and of course the cigars- just like the first one, I didn’t want this night to end.
Anyone who took pictures be sure to send them in and I’ll post ‘em for you (better yet upload them to a Flickr set and I’ll run your pics as a slideshow)

GMG Health and Fitness Week- Crossfit Cape Ann
First, we are NOT a normal gym. Our workouts change everyday, not only keeping it fresh and exciting, but giving our athletes a broad based level of fitness that allows them to perform well at any task life throws at them. ROUTINE IS THE ENEMY! We believe that true health and fitness is attained by training a wide variety of functional movements and executing them at high intensity. CFCA challenges the “big-box gym” mentality by using barbells, kettlebells, gymnastics, medicine balls, plyometrics, and Olympic lifts to get their athletes in peak physical shape. We don’t have machines…you are the machine!
CrossFit works for a wide range of people. Our classes are made up a variety of people of all athletic backgrounds. It is common to have soldiers, soccer moms, and senior citizens all working out side by side. The daily workout is the same for everyone; it’s the intensity we change to meet individual needs. We can adjust weight up or down, scale movements to train around injuries or deficiencies, etc. The end result is that everyone gets a great workout that is scaled appropriately to their abilities.
At Crossfit Cape Ann there is a genuine sense of community, encouragement, and maybe a just a touch of friendly competition. That supportive community and class structure is the greatest asset to keeping your workouts fun and you accountable. Also, all of our members are required to set measurable goals (“to get in shape” is not measurable) and given a journal to track their fitness progress.
Come down and check us out for free and see if it’s for you. We train everyone from any fitness level and background. Our members are like family. All are welcome.
