On January 3, 2009 the F\V Patriot was lost at Sea with both crewmen. Here is the story from the Gloucester Daily Times and a few photos I took of the Patriot in 2008. Also, Joey has some great pictures and video of inside the Patriots wheelhouse and engine room.
From the Gloucester Daily Times;
“By Richard Gaines The Gloucester Daily Times Sun Jan 04, 2009, 10:52 PM EST
As president of the Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Association, Angela Sanfilippo has dealt many times with tragedy at sea. It never gets easier.
“This is a shocker,” she said Saturday, referring to the loss of the Patriot and the lives of two local fishermen. “This was the perfect boat. Gloucester has one more time been stricken.”
The two members of a Gloucester fishing family — the husband and father of Josephine Russo — were lost at sea early Saturday when the family-owned Patriot, a modern, 54-foot, steel-hulled trawler fishing alone on Middle Bank, about 15 miles from port, sank after an apparent catastrophic failure.

The timelapse I did the other day was performed differently. I took video footage, imported it into windows live movie maker and sped it up 32 times.
Molly set her camera up using an intervalometer, taking lots and lots of still photos taken at a specific time apart, imported those into iMovie, stitched them together to make a timelapse of photos.
Very cool.

Hi!
I’m the person who made the time-lapse video of St. Peter’s Marina that you featured on your Good Morning Gloucester blog. Thank you for sharing it! That’s exactly why I posted it… for others to enjoy.
I live in Boston but am up here in Gloucester house-sitting for 2 friends who have apartments overlooking St. Peter’s Marina. Before I realized you had posted the snowstorm video I made a sunrise time-lapse video in HD with my iPhone. A link is below. Nice Indian Summer sunrise.
It looks like it’s becoming that.
The Seven Seas Navigator arrived this morning and began unloading her passengers.

Look at these gorgeous photos and tell me you don’t thank god every day you get to be here.

Good evening, Joey!
One of the things I really like about being in Gloucester is the fact that there are lots of talented people who like to get together to share their gifts just for the fun of it. On the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, I joined the group that met on the Adventure to sing sea chanteys and watch the parade of lighted boats. I didn’t get great photos of the boats, but I got some nice sunset / moon photos. So, these photos are a couple of weeks old, but I just got to process them now, and I thought I’d share them with you in case you thought them worth sharing with the GMG readers.

I met Rick a Big fan of GMG At The State Fish Pier. He enjoys checking it out everyday to see what’s going on here on our Island Paradise. He thought the Sunday Mug Ups were by invitation only. I told him and any Fan like him can come down Sunday Mornings at 10am and get some Coffee and some great food. No obligation to buy anything at all. Rick seems like a great guy and I look forward to talking to him again.
Here’s a photo of Rick Representin’ and The Eurodam video I took today. Rick also is my color commentary on the last part of this video when you see the shuttle boat arriving at the CruisePort.
Here’s Rick:

They come in Peace!
Gloucester is being invaded today by the Cruise ship Eurodam and her passengers.
There alot of Happy passengers walking around town and waiting for the Cape Ann Shuttle Buses. Hopefully they’ll Shuttle them down To The Kahn/GMG Gallery on Rocky Neck.
Here are some photos of the Eurodam and her shuttle/life boat pods in Gloucester Harbor.
