Don’t forget

CAPE ANN MUSEUM * IS THE NEXT BIG HARBORTOWN CULTURAL DISTRICT EVENT

Date:   August 27, 2013

Time: 6PM

Please RSVP for the head count party prep

Let’s support our GHCD partner! The Cape Ann Museum, a Harbortown founding partner, has generously offered an exclusive after hours treat.

Come wander the hallways, rooms, expansive permanent collection and not one, but TWO well-thought and expertly curated, rotating exhibits, all the while sipping a beverage and enjoying your fellow GHCD cohorts. Museum Director Ronda Faloon will lead a tour of the Museum’ s renovation plans, with the most up to date and exciting reveal and news. Let’s put it this way…their campaign is inspiring! Take your own mental “before” snapshots and be ready for the Museum’s “after” plans:  aiming for an even better visual, intellectual and cultural classic for downtownGloucester.

Along with socializing, having a bit of wine, cheese and fruit (compliments of the Museum), we’ll also mesh this event seamlessly with a partners meeting. We’ll do some GHCD business while we’re hobnobbing and doing business!

Sista Felicia and Peter Van Ness on Aurelia Nelson’s Curtain Up Sunday 9am 104.9 FM

Felicia-Aurelia-Todd
L-R: Curtain Up Host Aurelia Nelson, Sista Felicia, North Shore 104.9 owner Todd Tanger

Well … Aurelia Nelson found a clever way to host Sista Felicia on her North Shore104.9 radio show Curtain Up that features guests in music and theatre. But it wasn’t much of a stretch.  Anyone who’s ever seen Felicia in the kitchen knows that she puts on a great show.  She’s got star quality!

Sista Felicia’s Waterfront Festival tent on Friday

So get up early enough tomorrow (Sunday) to catch Aurelia Nelson interview Sista Felicia about her new cookbook at 9am and you’ll also get to hear Peter talk about how our Fall concert series is reviving The Larcom Theatre in Beverly.

In the meantime, you can bop down to the Waterfront Festival and check out Sista Felicia’s tent.

Watching her put the sides on is a good show in and of itself.

Jason Burroughs’ art at The Hive

Yesterday evening at The Hive (on Pleasant Street, less than a block up from Main Street, on the right) there was an opening of an art show by Jason Burroughs in their back room. It was accompanied by a concert by a variety of bands. I stopped in to snag some photos! Jason is an up-and-coming local artist, who also works in the programs offered at The Hive and Art Haven.

He will also be in the gallery during the block party today. Stop by to see the art and meet the artist! And maybe buy a print or an original… Get it before he gets famous and the prices go up!
