WZLX Listener Cruise and the 2nd Annual Bluefin Blowout Brewfest!
1:00 PM – 2:30 PM: WZLX Listener Cruise with the Morning Show Guys – Karlson and McKenzie! Join them on the Lady Sea (www.gloucesterfleet.com) as they host a fun-filled cruise around Gloucester’s inner harbor. Don’t miss this crazy voyage…
2:00 PM – 6:00 PM: Enjoy an amazing afternoon riverside tasting some of the best craft brews in the area! Live music and the chance to see Giant Tuna weighed at the official Bluefin Blowout stage makes this brewfest a MUST!
Check out some of your favorite craft beers…Kona and Red Hook, Woodstock, Beer Works, Downeast Cider, Cape Ann Brewing, Yuengling, Tuckerman’s, Allagash, Founders, Southern Tier, Wachusett, Lagunitas, and more!
As always, this is a legitimate tuna tournament, with action not to be missed.
In fact, it is “New England’s Premier Giant Bluefin Tuna Tournament” and it does not disappoint.
Great work done by the organizers, the sponsors, the boat crews, and everyone else involved.
A great chance to peak inside what this side of the fishing industry can be like!
The crowd was excited, the competition was on…yet friendly, the Orion was up to their usual antics all “Funky Red Barn” style, and the fish were…well, BIG.
A heartfelt moment of silence for past “Weigh Master”, Mark Godfried (whom I worked for and loved), was a really nice touch.
To kick-off this year’s tournament, Day #1 ended with The Miss Fern bringing in a fish that weighed 805 pounds. It was immediately followed by Tuna.com’s 913 pounder. Yikes!
Congratulations to all! Check out tournament info here
Miss Fern Lands First TUNA At 2014 Bluefin Blowout:
Ready and Waiting. Who will weigh in first?
Actresses aboard Tyrone this past spring off Nantucket filming ‘Peter and John’, a Cain and Abel story of sorts. No murder though. Rather, a sail off into the fog for the disenfranchised.
Presently Tyrone is looking for paying guests to act in the upcoming Gloucester Mayor’s Cup Race, this time as crew. More info here
Don’t forget to get your tickets!
The place to be….
This past week while I am home enjoying a staycation (why would anyone ever want to leave Gloucester during the summer?), I have been working on HarborWalk butterfly garden improvements, alongside some outstandingly helpful volunteers. Imagine our delight when a beautiful Mama Monarch flew on the secene. After nectaring from the zinnias, I was hoping she would deposit her eggs on the Marsh Milkweed, strategically planted next to the nectar-rich zinnias, but no, not on her day’s agenda.
Many Hands Make Light Work ~ If you would like to join the Friends of the HarborWalk volunteers, please email me at kimsmithdesigns@hotmail.com. You don’t need to be an expert gardener to join us; on the job-training is provided. We also need sweepers, trash-picker-uppers, and weedwhackers!
I understand from Matt Coogan, Gloucester’s Community Development Senior Planner, that there were over 800 people attending the free Summer Cinema on Wednesday night!! This coming Wednesday, a showing of Goonines is scheduled. I hope to see you there!
The Monarchs we see in our gardens at this time of year are not the Methuselah Monarchs that travel to Mexico, but the parents of the generation that will.

In the book they are highly evolved being from another planet, but they can represent anything to anyone – intuition, inner power, angels, God, a saint, the Universe, synchronicity – whatever speaks to our higher spiritual self. They have just come to us in a different, loving form to help us achieve what is the greatest desire of all humans – to know our purpose and to live the joyful, abundant, fulfilled lives we all know at the core of our being we are meant to live. Even more, they have come to show us that like Moolongz, who know they are one being, humans are also one being, capable of joining together (like the Market Basket employees and boycotting customers have recently done) to create major, earth altering changes for good (or not so good, if that is where we choose to be as beings). Can you see Moolongz? And if you can, you owe it to yourself and to the world to do whatever you can to make sure everyone does. That ultimately is our purpose.
I want to express my deep gratitude and love to those enlightened souls who immediately appreciated the importance of the lessons the Moolongz came to share with mankind and backed my Kickstarter project to bring the book into being:

I’ve read your nasty comments. Her Kickstarter has something like 11 more days for her to potentially be able to get her book financed.
If you can’t see how much she gives back to the community by posting artists openings, volunteering for the Rocky Neck Art Colony, hosting Mug-Ups, ect, ect, ect then you’re just not paying enough attention.
She hits her daily time slot here on GMG 99 out of a 100 days and 95% of the posts she composes are to help promote other community organizations or bring some interesting bit of information to our readership that they might not already have known.
So if you are not interested in the Kickstarter campaign for her new book and simply can’t bring yourself to scroll past her post during the next 10 days of her Kickstarter Campaign without writing a nasty comment then lets just do everyone a favor and please unsubscribe yourself.
For all the labor of love energy we put into this thing called GMG we don’t need your negative energy mucking up the works.
Unbelievable.
This goes for Kim Smith’s movie night promotions, Felicia’s cookbooks and anything else that our contributors who strive to bring you great stuff every single day occasionally will pimp here on these pages. 335 posts a year trying to help others throughout the community, 30 posts trying to get her book financed and some people are that ignorant that they have to spew vitriol because they begrudge her of promoting her art.
Again, Unbelievable.
