Man I was feeling this interview. For anyone that creates to feed their soul- watch this and be inspired by the raw honesty. Love the part about perspective toward the end.
As if our elf, Jingle, is creepy enough this holiday season, why not take it to the next level and really freak the kids out? What exactly do you call a group of elves? A pod, a gaggle, a school, a flock, a herd, a troop, a colony? Or maybe a drove, a bed, a pack, an army, a horde, a tribe. Hmmm. No matter what they’re called….they take the cake in the “Dear Lord, Make it Stop” category of holiday fun.
Courtesy of the PNP, the Portable North Pole, you too can add up the ante of holiday fibs and give yourself yet more to explain when your child no longer believes. Good times.
As tempted as I was to see what would happen if poor little Finn founded himself on the naughty list, even I couldn’t be that mean. There’s always next year 😉
On Saturday it started to feel a lot like Christmas. We had large flakes of snow falling, I started playing holiday tunes in the gallery, the Lobster Trap Tree was lit, and a beautiful floral arrangement was delivered to the gallery. It’s a gift from Sharon StClair and husband Chuck King of Florida. It was given to me and the “GMG Gang,” and will be the centerpiece of the gala GMG Holiday Party on December 19th. They love Cape Ann, are Friends of the Gallery, of Good Morning Gloucester, and are my friends. I wish them a very happy Christmas.

Greasypole Shrine was happy to hand out the Greasypole Champ jackets. A tradition that Paul F. Nicastro and myself revised and brought back. Donations also came from the brotherhood of walkers and Good MorningGloucester too. The white jacket is for Friday, Red is for Saturday and Green for Sunday. Congratulations — with Greasypole Nation, Jack Russ and Mark Allen.

At 54 degrees S, Ushuaia Argentina is the southernmost city in the world. This view of the city faces south, toward Cape Horn, from across the Beagle Channel.
Tomorrow our little expedition embarks on a small ship to cruise the Straits of Magellan,Beagle Channel and other fjords of Tierra del Fuego and Cape Horn.We will have no internet access (now there’s a REAL adventure) so I will be unable to post for about 5 days.
It’s 9:51 PM and still very bright outside so I guess I’ll just have to grab a beer and wait for bedtime.

Here are some of the bulbs they gave my mom -notice the same kinds?-

Here are the boxes of bulbs that were replaced with bulbs that provide the same or not better light but only used 10 watts of power and replaced bulbs that were drawing 65 watts of power. I could see that for aesthetic reasons some people when these types of bulbs came out might not have wanted to replace bulbs with the squiggly weird looking ones but now they make them to look just like regular lightbulbs AND you can get these bulbs for free that they are charging $15.99 each for at our local grocery store. AND the guy comes out and installs them all for you. AND you’re already paying for these kinds of ungrades in your Energy Efficiency Charge on Your Electric Bill. What kind of idiot wouldn’t want to take advantage of all that AND save money every single month going forward with the 6 times more energy efficient bulbs?
Boxes of bulbs at a cost of $15.99 that were replaced free of charge at my Mom’s House-
Trident Gallery will be open late and serving refreshments on Thursday night, the 18th, for Men’s Night, which also coincides with the opening of Pinoli. You can check out the Lobster Trap Tree next door to Trident, see Lynn’s photos, shop local, and have dinner at Pinoli (or any of the other fabulous dining establishments on Main Street). Sounds like a wonderfully fun night out to me!
Every single image in the show is beautiful and gorgeous, but my favorite amongst the favorites is this chromogenic print titled “Carousel, Geneva”
“Oh Happy Day,” sung by Aretha Franklin and Mavis Staples, is one of my favorite songs at Christmastime and it was a delight to discover this video of fantastic early footage of Aretha Franklin performing at Detroit’s New Bethel Baptist Church, the church founded by C.L. Franklin, Aretha’s father.
Please send us your suggestion of favorite holiday music. We would love to include in the Christmas Carol Countdown!

There is always so much to do. One of my favorites is the Middle Street Walk, City Hall, the kids painting the buoys, the stores decorated and the of course the lighting of the Lobster Trap Tree.
Dr. Silvester R. Smith, DPM has announced his retirement as Podiatrist, ending a 60-year career.
Dr. Smith started his practice in 1954 at 1 School Street in Gloucester, Massachusetts. He ran his business solely as Podiatrist, Receptionist and Accountant. He had many long-time patients where he developed friendly relationships and looked forward to their visits to catch up on their family and happenings in their lives. When he was not in his office, he was making house calls at many local area nursing homes.
Dr. Smith experienced a setback on in December 2008 when the Lorraine Building, where his office was situated, was consumed by fire. Although a disheartening event, he was quick to find another location at 199 Main Street in Gloucester where he has practiced the last 6 years. He enjoyed the new location as there were frequent walk-ins and lots of activity.
Dr. Smith and his wife reside in West Gloucester. He is well known in the Gloucester community. He looks forward to participating in local events such as the annual Fishtown Horribles Parade. Of the 14 times he participated walking the parade route, his favorite was the year he walked twice, once in the AMVET contingency, and then again following the parade theme “Toys of the 20s” where he pedaled his 1920s era scooter. Dr. Smith also participates in the annual ceremonies and parades each May and November in honor of the Veterans and proudly wears his uniform from his term in the U.S Army Air Corps.
Dr. Smith’s retirement takes effect January 1, 2015 where he will spend more time with family and friends and enjoying his countless hobbies including general farming activities, raising chickens, gardening, woodworking, reading, writing and creative projects.
