The Red Shed is a micro film festival featuring selected shorts produced on Cape Ann or with Cape Ann as the subject. The history, geography, art, people, city and towns of Cape Ann are all suitable for treatment — anything that conveys the region’s sense of place. The Red Shed Film Festival takes place on Saturday, May 17, 2014 as part of Rockport’s annual Motif No.1 Day festival of the arts. The Guidelines for Entries: Films must come in under 15 minutes and should be produced on, or be about, Cape Ann. Film structure and genre can be fiction or non-fiction, abstract or literal, linear or non-linear – play with your aesthetic tastes.Application does not guarantee screening. Forgive my self-indulgence, but how often can one post something like this?! So proud of my little guy!! And….those employees at Fenway Park who arrange and execute these pregame ceremonies are beyond phenomenal!! They made him feel like the most important person in the world even though they do this 81 times each season.

Attached is the pic of the Easter Bunnies (they aren’t real bunnies) lined up awaiting the perilous drop and video of them being launched off the balcony and parachuting safely to earth.

As a player or as a spectator. All those beams and seats supporting the crowds throughout the years being dismantled. I’m sure it held a ton of great memories for people. Vickie wants me to choose between Hendrix & The Beatles, but I won’t do it!
Unless you’ve been living under a rock this year, you already know that 2014 is the 5oth anniversary of The Beatles’ appearance on Ed Sullivan. I begged my parents to let me stay up and watch the show — and they agreed. (Kids went to bed earlier in those days.)
It was a thrill! Most everybody on my block was already a Beatles fan and the next day, we were utterly devoted. We all started saving up for the next record. Being the 5oth anniversary of what CBS billed as “The Night That Changed America”, you’ve also probably seen lots of Beatles tribute bands playing around. Next Friday (April 25), Top area musicians come together (yes, pun intended) to help raise money for Gloucester’s UU Meetinghouse as The Number Nines — but this is no tribute band. Rather, it’s three top Gloucester singer/songwriters: 3rian King, Chelsea Berry and Renée Dupuis, joined by Boston‐based multi‐instrumentalist Meff and guitarist Brendan Burns with Gloucester’s favorite rhythm section: Dennis Monagle and Joe Cardoza. They’ll perform their own originals plus fresh takes on The Beatles, like this soulful interpretation of “I Want To Hold Your Hand” featuring Chelsea Berry on vocals:
So, we can all agree that The Beatles are the greatest rock band ever, right? “Not so fast,” quips Vickie. “What about Jimi Hendrix?”
“What about him?” I reply.
“You’re always saying he’s the greatest rock guitar player, who ever lived.”
“Well, of course he is.” [Here’s one of my Hendrix favorites]
“So how can The Beatles be the best rock band ever?”
“Oh come on. I can’t choose between The Beatles and Hendrix!”
So the next night, April 26, our friend Jon Butcher is bringing his powerful new show, The Jon Butcher Axis: Celebrating the Music of Jimi Hendrix to the Larcom Theatre for their Boston area debut. Check out Jon’s version of another one of my favorite Hendrix tunes:

Monarch Migration Interview with Tom Emmel, filmed at the summit of the Sierra Chincua Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, Angangueo, Mexico.
This was Tom’s 40th trip to Angangueo to study the Monarchs. In this interview, he provides some historical perspective from those very first trips to the remote Oyamel fir forests atop the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Mountains. We learn how scientists count millions of Monarchs. Tom discusses the state of the Monarch migration today and why it is in crisis.
Tom Emmel is the Director of the McGuire Center for Lepidoptera and Biodiversity at the Museum of Natural History of the University of Florida, Gainesville. Additional footage shot at El Rosario Monarch Butterfly Reserve and at the base of Sierra Chincua.

Crazy Moon @ 8:30, Blood Moon at 2am
As GMG Weather man Peter Lovasco points out in his very informative post (with great pix) there’s a Blood Moon tonight. This just in from Lisa Smith about how Cape Ann TV plans to celebrate:
Blood Moon/Lunar Eclipse tonight! Is it a prophecy of doom? or a rare celestial event? We here at Cape Ann TV are not sure of what to make of this heavenly sideshow. But to celebrate this rare phenomenon, we will be airing Gordon Bairds’ “Crazy Moon” a musical odyssey.
“Crazy Moon” airs tonight on Channel 8:30 p.m., with repeats at the wee hours of Tuesday morning at: 12:00 am, 1:30 am, 3:00 am and 4:30 am.
The Blood Moon goes live in the night sky at 12:53 a.m. through 6:37 a.m., and peaks between 3:07 a.m. and 4:25 a.m. on the East Coast, according to NASA.

The “American Blogger” Documentary May Be The Biggest Crock Of Shitake Mushrooms Ever
I first saw this video on Barstool Sports but I’m thinking the whole thing has to be a joke, right?
Like a documentary is supposed to capture people in real life, if you watch that trailer you would think that the only people that blog are wealthy privileged female designers whose houses are spotless. Was there even one guy in the whole lot?
I feel like the whole trailer was something made up for The Onion or some satirical Saturday Night Live Skit where in the very next scene all these women hop on unicorns after farting out rainbows.
Somehow us lumping trailer loads of stinky herring at 5AM didn’t make the cut 😉
